Anyone dumb enough to accept this deserves to make $0 / year.
Is anyone forcing them to do it? Is this slavery or a volunteer position?
Maybe you should read the article before commenting. It's like how people accept internships with no pay. If you're a lowly academic, the chance to say you're connected to UCLA is an alluring one.
About a decade ago, I had 2 job offers. One offer was from a pretty famous person to work for a company owned by an extremely famous multi-billion dollar company, which is owned by an even
famouser multi-billion-dollar company. But the pay was terrible.
The other offer was to work for a startup-ish company that you've never heard of, but for good pay.
I took the latter offer. But if the former offer was less terrible, I might've taken it just to be associated with all that fame.
