I hope I'm not right, but I think it's only a matter of time until one of these hostile foreign governments decides to strike America or one of its NATO allies directly. They are getting awfully bold.

They are enabled by China, India, and Brazil.

Those countries are not our allies and the sooner we act like it the better.

India and Brazil seem more like fence-sitters than anything. I'm thinking more China/Russia/Iran/Syria/North Korea.

And before any of the usual suspects jump on me: no, I am not advocating that the US starts a war against any of these countries. Just saying that if an attack is to come it would likely be from one of them.

India and Brazil could exert a lot of pressure on our enemies (like Russia) and they don't.

India in particular considers themselves to be our ally (and we theirs) but so often they stab us in the back.

Yeah, like I say: they are fence-sitting.

I was at San Diego airport in ~87 waiting to board when next to me Steve Garvey was also waiting to put two (?) daughters on the plane. It was one of my first star sightings so I was actually unsure if it was actually him.

But then when they boarded and he left a couple other young guys like me were like "yo, that was Steve Garvey!"

He was stiff and it was awkward. Nobody approached him.

Since then I recall flying with Irv Cross, manute Bol, and Newman from Seinfeld, though I was thinking more the fat guy from Jurassic Park at the time. Jerry Rice was at a gate waiting for a flight, not boarding - back in the day when you could do that.

At any rate, Steve Garvey interests me Less Than Zero as a candidate. The airport situation came exactly at the time that he was involved in that news breaking paternity issue.

I have little respect for men who sleep around. It shows a lack of character.

Family Values. Don't make me laugh.
If he were a serious candidate, this would concern me rather than amuse me. Just another disingenious narcissist, I suppose.

Were the girls the same age? Didn't he have two women pregnant at the same time. One of them his wife? It was a long time ago and hard to remember. Back then the Republican Party was the party of family values.

He has been happily married with children since 1989, 35 years ago. He certainly did not have family values before that.

I wouldn't know. He has been irrelevant since he retired from baseball. He was my favorite player as a kid and his signing with the Padres was a big deal in my life.

That reminds me.
I was at candlestick with the wider family once as a kid, late 70's. Aunts, uncles, even grandpa was there, who annoyingly kept predicting that "Vida Blue will pitch 7 innings!"

After the game, I was hanging over the rails as players walked below us. Garvey tossed a ball and I will say of myself "great catch, kid" as I stretched my left and snared it one handed!

We played with it and scuffed it up and then lost it in the junipers.

Thx for reminding me!

I should lookup the box scores of dodgers beating giants with vida going 7 to find the exact date.

I should be able to figure this out!

Update
Vida pitched in a SF uniform vs Giants 8 times over 3 seasons, 78/79/80.

No. Steve Garvey is the P grabber.

And… I never know what a person has gone through to make them an apologist for this PATHETIC Republican Party.

My spirits were bolstered this past weekend when I gathered with family (including some at the Vida game) and they've (almost all) given up and are calling it for what it is. It was great to hear so many as disgusted as I am.

Trump won't be president again. Instead, the question is one of lifespan.

He also preaches "personal accountability" which is code for "I got mine so screw everyone else."

Reading this article I lost a lot of respect for him to have zero contact with two children and to cut off another one completely 15 years ago? What is wrong with him?

Those have been replaced with AR15 pins since the gun lobby pays more. It's only a matter of time before GOP jackets look like F1 jumpsuits with all of the special interests they represent.
