This man has a major hand in accelerating the ruin of san francisco. I am ashamed he is now part of Cal.

I pretty much gave up when they appointed a socialist as the head of the school of business, this is just more woke foolishness as the parasites take care of their own

You didn't believe our school when they told us for decades where they stood? I also ceased awhile ago donating to our school, while I continue to donate heavily to my law school. The school lost me a long time ago, just like the Democrats lost me permanently. If they tell me my views and my religion are unwelcome based on a purity test as opposed to seeking common ground, no sympathy for me when they seek my contribution. My law school may lean toward being liberal, but they are more welcoming and have earned their right to seek and receive monetary gifts from me. Other than football from my years at UC Berkeley and Tedford years, UC Berkeley has done more to alienate than to invite.

I will always have a soft spot in my heart for San Francisco, but the city was more greatly harmed by Newsom (which was such a disappointment but his long-term goal was being president and not just a mayor of SF) when he was a mayor than Boudin's pro-criminal and anti-punishment stance.

Having said that, I would still prefer the attitude of San Francisco than the attitude I witnessed in Hillsborough when I lived there. People in San Francisco will at least live with the consequences of their policies and the deterioration of the quality of life that their extreme policies effect. What I could not stomach were the NIMBY attitudes of my prior neighbors in Hillsborough who would yap and yap about their liberal positions and how they hated Republicans and income disparity all the while making it harder for people of color to live in the neighborhood (and limit any development that could result in greater integration), complain about their immigrant nannies and housekeepers, hold pre-school birthday parties for their daughters by reserving the whole penthouse floor of the Four Seasons hotel, and make excuses on why they were too busy to volunteer when there was no company-wide initiative or addition to their C.V..

I respect that people of San Francisco for continuing to vote for the politicians and implementing policies knowing the consequences.

Agree. Nixon was wrong on the "silent majority"*. It isn't on the right; it's in the common-sense center.

* Nixon might have been right in '68. But if he said that now, he'd be wrong. The "silent majority" today are the good Americans who care about reasonable solutions to all of our problems and don't spend their lives on left-wing or right-wing twitter (because they are actually doing something productive).

Joe Biden got about 51% running against the repulsive Donald Trump. Barack Obama, whom even I really liked and voted for, received about 51% and 53%. He was a very inspirational candidate, with some of the MAGA voters now having voted for him. Bill Clinton won both times despite getting less than 50%, including 43% in 1992 (lowest in modern history), with Ross Perot more conservative than liberal. Not sure why you think Donald Trump in 2016 against a poorly run campaign of Hillary is such a watershed moment of independents going center left. I am definitely more right than left and I would never vote for Trump. Doesn't make me a liberal.

Donald Trump received 74 million votes in 2020, including more votes from blacks and Hispanics compared to 2016, but less votes from white males. No incumbent has ever lost after having receiving more votes the second time around except Trump.

Those 74 million votes were more than anyone in history except for Joe Biden who received a record 81 million votes. That's 12 million more than Biden's former boss, the charismatic spy from Hawaii.

Meanwhile, Kamala Harris was polling less than 1% among Democrats before she dropped out of the presidential primaries. There wasn't much excitement for Biden's campaign either, it was Bernie Sanders who captured the spotlight early on. Bernie won Iowa and New Hampshire while Biden came in 4th and 5th, respectively. This freaked out Republicans but more so the Democrats.

Sure, we can guess what should have been or could have been as if projections and polls are some exact science. I would rather deal with facts. The reality is that a significant percentage of independents voted for a populist candidate that wanted economic nationalism, drastically cutting spending to balance the budget, allowing tax payers to vote on whether to increase taxes instead of congress, cut long-term capital gains tax rate, etc. The bottom line is that enough independents voted for a third party candidate preaching fiscal responsibility and economic populism instead of one of the most conservative democrats. How does that support your view that the independents are more center left?

Yes. I posted articles on this site explaining this would happen before the election. Most battleground states have Republican legislatures that made this so. Democrats focused on mail in votes and Republican legislatures focused on counting them late. This was all known by intelligent people before election day. What happened to you?
