I don't know, maybe. But...
What if U.S. regulators have a "change of heart" and make things difficult or impossible for the Bitcoin ecosystem to flourish?
What if a black swan event like a massive cyberattack takes down global networks?
What if hackers find a way to crack Bitcoin's multiple layers of security?

Like, sure.
I think each and every government around the world that currently enjoys the power associated with control of their currency will allow some alternative to take over.

Riiiiight.

Absolutely!

Samson Mow says it will hit $1 million in the near future.
You'd be a fool not to go all in here at 43,135.00

Unlike your buddies Putin99 and Bearfarce, I only pay in USD.
Like I did for my '2023 992 GT3 Touring.

Not all millionaires will be able to buy a single bitcoin. There isn't enough to go around. Bitcoin ETFs make bitcoin easily accessible and in smaller denominations. You can thank me later.

Yeah, but millionaires can afford the bitcoin mining server farms and create bitcoins out of nothing but their equipment and electric bills.

That's true for like everything, except for Bear2024's truth that there really is a scarcity for Bitcoin. Not sure why a bunch of know it all morons feel the need to mock the OP here.

If your only basis for investing is YOLO or FOMO, then you might as well play the lotto.

What is your fundamental basis for investing in bitcoin? How do you determine the fair value or the right multiple (assuming there is any financial measure other than what someone else is willing to pay)?

If there is no financial performance with corresponding multiple to get at a target price, you might as well go to the casino or engage in a pyramid scheme.

When financially illiterate people with no understanding of global economy starts promoting something, you should know to let that opportunity pass. There are sufficient actual transformative technological advances with real world value (even if scary), such as AI, that there is no point in gambling on a standalone worthless asset.

Also, you should never go all in on anything.

Just trying to be helpful.

There is also scarcity of common sense in politics. But I wouldn't trade it as currency, even if it has more intrinsic value than Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is a speculative investment that has the potential for high returns, despite currently being priced at 52K per coin, which is 20% higher than it was on 2/4, the date of the original post.

I think of Bitcoin as much of an investment as a lotto ticket, which also has high return.

That is not an investment.

I am not saying it will not go up, just like AMC and GameStop went up during the mania without any basis.

I am passing on it because I have no idea what value it has. I knew why I invested in IDEX, DHR, NVDA, ROP, APPL, MSFT early on. I can look at their TAM, opportunity, potential revenue, operating margin expansion, cash flow, and value where their EPS or EBIDTA should be 5 years in the future and what multiple typically goes in that space at that growth rate, and assume what the right price should be 5 years from now. I know why I invested and then sold TSLA and MRNA. I know why I started pruning APPL.

There is nothing for me to assess the right price for Bitcoin. As such, what would be my basis for investing at 52K, 2K or 152K?

It is awful.

27 Trillion Supply.
No Supply Cap

25% of Supply creates in last 6 months.
1% of holders own 30% of it.

Any price is the right price for bitcoin. It's the scarcest asset in the world and it will last longer than any of the companies you own stock from.

Bitcoin will not be eagerly adopted by the mainstream, it will be forced upon them. Forced, as in "compelled by economic reality". You could have bought bitcoin and leveraged your coins to buy multiple 992 GT3 Tourings instead. Bad move.

Good luck with that.

Most of us here who are not fans of crypto have built decent wealth and are now enjoying life in retirement so such speculative investments would never make sense. It never would have made sense even when I was building my wealth, but I have always been the type who needed a compelling fundamental reasons instead of speculation to invest. Has worked well for me, but I truly do wish you nothing but the best. Everyone should enjoy life with passion and without worrying about money.
