Great post. I'm glad Trump is okay after these and I totally denounce the shooters -- past, present and future -- but the former President incites this sort of thing. To try and flip it and say that the people saying he is a threat to democracy are the ones who are inciting it, that's just nuts. They are simply reporting on what he does. I won't be surprised if there are assassination attempts on Democrats and attacks on symbols of the supposed Deep State... and Trump will bear some responsibility for those, too.

It's a shame that people on the Left can't make an argument without resorting to a straw man. Who on the right has ever said that violent Jan 6 protesters should not be prosecuted? Perhaps you can find an example, but the vast majority of people on the Right abhor the violence even if they agreed with the sentiments of those who committed the acts. The few that were violent should absolutely be prosecuted including the Antifa plants and policemen who murdered Babbitt and Boyland. But the vast majority of the people prosecuted for Jan 6 crimes are not being prosecuted for violence; they are being locked away without bail for ridiculous charges like parading or interrupting a government proceeding. Many people who did nothing more than walk through the open door of the Capitol are having their houses raided in the middle of the night and their property confiscated. Contrast this with the BLM rioters who were far more violent yet bailed out the same day by organizations like the Minnesota Freedom Fund which Kamala very publicly supported.
