Total number of people who vote based on VP has to be about 10 or less - each candidate's spouse, parents and siblings.

Harris is so young that minus an assassination her VP will only occupy the WH on visits. [edit to remove rude reference]

What do you refute about why I don't like him?

To me, he seems to be a genuinely great American. JMO. (not to say he never slightly overstated anything, I don't know)

Your dislike of him seems to me to be an off-the-shelf regurgitation of right-wing talking points. Just as one example, the "stolen valor" issue is ridiculous: When your term of service is up, you can leave for any reason you want (unless they decide you can't). The guy joined up when he was 17 and served for 24 years, for goodness sake. To denigrate that is just trying to be hyper-partisan. It's absurd.

We can (and will) agree to disagree on many issues. That's okay: we probably agree on some, too. Go Bears!

My opinion:

Post Trump, all these attempts to extrapolate about someone's character and infer they are a bad person and unfit for high office are just stupid. The bar has literally been set as low as it can go...and Trump was elected once, nominated two additional times and may be reelected again. Is 'stolen valor' really worse than any of the personal stuff Trump did / is accused of doing? So it is a whole lot of peeing in the rain to me.

Having said that, if W's commanding officer is to be believed...not good. Serving for 24 years when it is convenient for you but abandoning your troops after you've been put on notice that you are going to deploy to a war zone just isn't the right way to roll.

No way, Jose. Just use your imagination to see what the media coverage and outrage from the Democrats would be if either Trump or Walz have done the same thing. There are different rules for Republicans and Democrats and another set of rules for Trump.

The most humorous part of the upcoming VP running mates debate is going to be when Couch Boy has to further degrade himself by strictly, word for word, follow tRump's talking point instructions….which promises to be the verbal equivalent of spraying fake hair fuzz on your chrome dome to appear on the Sunday morning political TV shows.

Perhaps Walz isn't as moronic as he seems but merely a traitor. The radical tent is truly a big tent.

https://www.malone.news/p/breaking-dhs-subpoened-after-whistleblower?r=aiop6&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web

"WASHINGTONToday, House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) issued a subpoena to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for intelligence reports, documents, and communications in its possession related to Governor Timothy Walz's connections to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). According to recently received whistleblower disclosures, the Committee has learned of a non-classified, Microsoft Teams group chat among DHS employees and additional intelligence reports that contain information regarding Governor Walz's connections to the CCP.

"The Committee has recently received whistleblower disclosures informing the Committee of serious concern among Department of Homeland personnel regarding a longstanding connection between the CCP and Minnesota Governor Timothy James Walz," wrote Chairman James Comer.

"Specifically, through whistleblower disclosures, the Committee has learned of a non-classified, Microsoft Teams group chat among DHS employeestitled 'NST NFT Bi-Weekly Sync'that contains information about Governor Walz that is relevant to the Committee's investigation. The Committee has also learned that further relevant information regarding Governor Walz has been memorialized in both classified and unclassified documents in the control of DHS."
...
"The Committee's investigation of the CCPbegun long before Governor Walz was elevated to be the vice-presidential candidate for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harrisseeks to understand the extent of the CCP's infiltration and influence campaign and to identify legislative reforms to combat CCP political warfare targeting prominent Americans for elite capture. If a state governor and major political party's nominee for Vice President of the United States has been a witting or unwitting participant in the CCP's efforts to weaken our nation, this would strongly suggest that there are alarming weaknesses in the federal government's effort to defend the United States from the CCP's political warfare that must be urgently addressed.

this is why:

"he first went to China in 1989 amid the Tiananmen Square uprising. Walz was part of the first delegation of American teachers to ever go to the communist nation during the trip. He was a participant in Harvard's WorldTeach program, which gave Walz the opportunity to live and teach young students in China for a year.

Walz apparently enjoyed his time in China so much that after transitioning his teaching career to the U.S., Walz continued to take annual trips back to China with his students. Walz eventually set up a company with his wife Gwen, called Educational Travel Adventures, Inc., which was dedicated to taking students on trips to China and other international destinations. The two even honeymooned in China on one of their trips in 1993. Walz's annual trips with students took place between 1993 and the early 2000s, before he began running for public office."

So damning, lol.

Maybe there is something there there when we talk about "ties" to CCP. But generally my reaction is Meh. It is a Communist country. He had a tourism company that took students to China. It would be impossible to not have interactions with Communists. Also, just about nobody outside of the VP candidate's immediate family votes for President based on the VP. Feels like a nothing burger to me.

The Chinese influence program in the US is massive involving many, many journalists, business execs, university profs, etc. It's bad enough when all these people let self-interest get in the way of honest dialogue about China. It is much worse when it's someone in government who is actually involved in the making of government policy. Perhaps this is a nothingburger. But I don't know how anyone on the outside could make such a judgment. There was an open investigation into Walz by a Dem-controlled bureaucracy before he was even a candidate. Can't let them memory hole that investigation now just because he is on the presidential ticket. Are we going to play the Hitler card forever?

If it was a test, to see if Walz could just admit no, he misspoke, Walz failed (though he did fit a "misspoke" into his second, incoherent answer). Not gonna lie, it cast doubt on some of his other answers concerning his biography. Walz lost points with me tonight. My formerly high opinion of him is a little less high.

There were still different ways he could have answered the question to make it less awkward for him and CBS. He could have said, "look Margaret, what I said happened a long time ago, I may have misspoke but I've been to China 30 times, I don't remember every single visit!"
