The Democrats' rating dive is mostly driven by their own base being angry at how the party has handled its business in recent years. Can't say I blame them.
1. They basically lied to everyone about Biden's condition.
2. Got off to a good start with Kamala and then the Biden campaign folks seemed to lead them back to a losing strategy.
3. Now Schumer basically caving on the spending bill.
People are mad. Trump's falling approval suggests it isn't because they like the other side any better.
Democrats defend illegal alien gang members while trashing Teslas and are shocked their approval is at 29% and sinking faster than Biden’s coherence.

1 Biden's deteriorating condition was no secret to most.
2. Kamala's selection with no election was part of the problem.
3. I don't think Schumer has anything to do with the ratings dive.
The problems go much deeper.

I mean no one in the GOP is saying that things like last nights Twitter rage is unhinged. It clearly is. I think our current state of democracy makes it really hard for congressional leaders to speak truth to power - whether it is taking away Trumps Cell phone at night or saying that uncle joe is unwell.
I will say that I am not sure that DOGE (or deportations) are great hills to die on. I think the inconsistent economic strategy about tariffs are....but the upper midwest is chalk full of protectionists.
I think I would have come out on Day 1 with a "Strategy to combat inflation" which was about free trade, aggressive pro-ag policies and ensuring continued investment in renewables. Let DOGE be doge and just call it wierd and a side show and get back on message that we want to reduce inflation/keep the momentum of 2024 which was slowing prices. Let Trump be the guy who doesn't care.
PS. Let me add about base. I think underreported about the anger about Schumar (and the house action) is how critically important public employee unions are to the party and especially house primaries. I would love to see a deep dive that shows how many dems lost (or retired) when opposed by SEIU or ATA). The vast majority of American's probably are not losing much sleep over DOGE. They don't LIKE it but it isn't an existential get up and march in streets thing. But it IS a huge deal for public employee unions because today's DOT employee who gets unlawfully fired is tomorrow's Teacher who gets her pension slashed. It probably also resonates with tthe MSM who has been fighting its own losing battle with management who have been "right sizing" newsrooms for 2 decades.
Now both sides do this. Most americans are prochoice but good luck with that in the GOP. But sometimes you got to tell the base to pound sand/focus on the big picture.

I don't agree with that. If people's Medicaid payments (for example) start getting missed, they will blame the Trump government.

Sure!!! Though remember they don't get medicaid..the provider does....bad payments would likely mean that some providers stop taking those patients so at least one step removed. Medicare would be a bigger problem since senior vote and anger quickly

The Dems screwed up on a number of things, some tactical, some strategic, some fundamental. And yet they only lost the popular vote by something like 49.5% to 48%.
Of course, that could be argued the other way: The Dems managed to lose the popular vote to a horse's ass.
