"Throughout history, and particularly in the 20th century, dictators and authoritarian regimes frequently renamed places, institutions, and even holidays as a means of consolidating power, erasing past influences, promoting their ideology, or establishing a cult of personality.

Examples
Soviet Union: Joseph Stalin's era saw numerous cities and landmarks renamed in his honor (e.g., Stalingrad, Stalinabad) and many places named after communist figures or concepts. After his death and during de-Stalinization, many of these names were reverted.

Nazi Germany: Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime systematically renamed streets, squares, and towns, often removing references to political enemies or Jewish figures, and replacing them with names honoring Nazi leaders, martyrs, battles, or German heritage.

Maoist China: During Mao Zedong's rule and the Cultural Revolution, there was a widespread effort to rename streets and public spaces with revolutionary or communist-themed names, such as "Red East" or "East is Red" streets. However, this often led to logistical issues and some names were later reverted or adjusted.

Italy under Mussolini: Benito Mussolini's regime also used renaming as a propaganda tool, for example, the Foro Mussolini (now Foro Italico)."

When America is finally freed from the Trump/MAGA Era, every name change he made will be reverted.

No need to talk about the economy today at the White House.
No need to talk about Gaza or Ukraine, or how FEMA botched the Texas flood response.

Gotta make sure that people are distracted away from the EPSTEIN FILES.

I give you the ultimate STOOGE.

"Trump was underwater (more unpopular than popular) on issue after issue in a CBS News/YouGov poll out Sunday, with broad disapproval on his handling of the economy: 70% of those polled said his administration wasn't doing enough to lower prices, and 61% said it was putting too much focus on tariffs.

On the administration's deportations of immigrants in the U.S. illegally, the CBS News/YouGov poll found overall support dropping 10 points over the past five months (59% to 49%). The GOP base remains overwhelmingly supportive, but a CNN poll found a 10-point increase (45% to 55%) in U.S. adults who say Trump has gone too far on deportations.

Some Trump advisers believe the deportations are more popular than polls reflect, based on some people's unwillingness to tell pollsters their true views on the issue.

On Trump's megabill, an AP-NORC poll found more adults think the new tax and spending law will benefit the wealthy (64%) than think it helps the middle class or "people like you" (51% each). The percentage who approved of Trump's handling of government spending (38%) was down 8 points from March.

Trump's handling of the Epstein case presents the latest and so far greatest threat to his public image: A new YouGov poll gave Trump a net rating of -34, his worst on any major issue this term. The backlash has dragged on for more than three weeks, fueled by Trump's escalating conflict with his own MAGA base."

Trump's net approval rating among 18- to 29-year-olds has plummeted to -40 since inauguration, down from roughly even, according to pollster G. Elliott Morris.

Biggest ******** move of inconsequence.

Quote:

House Republicans on the Appropriations Committee approved an amendment to the interior, environment and related agencies annual spending bill on Tuesday that would rename the opera house in the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts the "First Lady Melania Trump Opera House."

Rep. Mike Simpson (R-Idaho) called the move an "excellent way to recognize [Melania Trump's] support and commitment to promoting the arts."

Wow, total disrespectful, narcissistic ******** move!!

He should actually try to rename the Washington Monument in honor of his own member.
Great phallic symbol for such a phallic person.

He is meeting with British PM [incompetent] Keir Starmer during his visit to Turnberry, Scotland, and takes questions on trade, dollar value, EU trade agreement, Russia/Ukraine, Iran nuclear ambitions, Gaza, Hamas, the Federal Reserve, the economy, President Obama's immunity status, the ongoing review and investigation by DNI Tulsi Gabbard and more.

Clearly, coming out of COVID the economy got overcooked.
But, think about it, that was unknown territory - we had never been through such a thing before. And sure, go ahead and criticize the inflationary spending that created the Biden era inflation.

The problem with Trump is he wants to fire Powell and install someone who will lower interest rates and cause inflation, just like how it was known that his stupid 100% tariff talk would be bad for the economy.

Amuse: Why are Johnson and Thune Blocking Trump's Recess Appointments?

"It is a betrayal, plain and simple. Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune have unveiled an August recess plan that includes "pro forma" sessions every few days. Their objective is not legislative continuity, nor national security. It is to block President Donald Trump from exercising his constitutional power to make recess appointments. That they would deploy this maneuver against their own president, the duly elected leader of their party, is not just disloyal, it is politically suicidal….

…The president must act. Congress must be adjourned. Recess appointments must be made. And Republican leaders who undermine the president must be seen for what they are, obstacles to be removed, not partners to be placated."

I thought the new President assumes all responsibility for the current economy as soon as they take office? At least that's what was told when Obama and Biden entered in the middle of a recession. Is it not true?

At this point and time, if Trump brings in a "stooge" that lowers short term rates the long end of the yield curve will go to the moon.

The Bond Vigilantes aren't stupid.
And they can't be "primaried" either.

Remember, it was the rise in 10-year yields and a "Come to Jesus" chat with Bessent that caused him to TACO on April 9th and pause for 90 days.

The Bond Market will always reign preeminent when it comes to accountability.

But maybe only temporarily. Trump's economy is pretty weak right now and a cut is probably warranted.

Bond vigilantes are a relic of a different era. It was the stock market going down that caused Trump to TACO in April
