I would express this differently. Museums should represent truth and events/artifacts of cultural and historical significance. Slavery is an appropriate topic for inclusion, but not to the exclusion of other things.
Yeah, we need to do both. This is a great country but, over our history, we have also done some bad things. No different than other countries. Unless we're simplistic morons, we should be able to study both the good and the bad of our history. In fact, that's the whole point of studying history: know what the good and the bad is and try to do more of the former and less of the latter.
As I tell my kids, if this country is so bad, why is it that more people -- by multiples -- would come here rather than leave, if the borders were open.
