Excellent interview of the founder of Citadel Securities.
Thanks for posting Tom!

Clearly, the tariffs have been a TAX on Americans.

But as Ken Griffin also points out, they have led to:

1.) Higher inflation
2.) Disrupting our relations with Allies
3.) Corporate cronyism

Given our nation's largely no-tariff history, no one believes that these tariffs will be permanent.
That's why no one will be committed towards spending hundreds of millions of dollars to invest in America.
And certainly not for a copper mine that takes nearly 30 years to come online.

That 50% tariff on Copper is probably the dumbest thing that I've ever witnessed in my lifetime.

Carney chooses CCP China over America, and let's the Dragon in the door with cheap EVs to erode their car manufacturing industry in order to sell some canola seeds.

- Inflation is under control; wait until 90% price reductions on Big Pharma drugs kick in
- they needed to be disrupted, we're gaining massively in tariff revenue
- even Mumbles Biden kept Trump 1.0 tariffs on
- the President claims we've got $19 Trillion in investments on the way; BBB kicked in January 1st.

I actually think that the next president could have a built in Economic +.
Instant removal of stupid tariffs boosts economic activity from cheaper pricing.

"It was our country's destiny to reflect ideals that made us an incandescent beacon for democracy. But Trump has pulverized those ideals. We are now seen as sinister, selfish, unruly and at everybody's throats….

It is heartbreaking that on the cusp of our 250th anniversary, we have a president who is perverting all the values our country was founded on looking out for one another, respecting one another's rights.

America is not supposed to be a place where an angel-faced 5-year-old named Liam, with a floppy-eared hat and a Spider-Man backpack, gets seized and taken to a detention center by men in masks.
The American leader is meant to be a unifier, a strong and soothing presence in the world. Trump is an anarchic toddler, constantly causing upheaval across the globe, transgressing and remaking everything in his helter-skelter image. He has no interest in fireside chats; he wants to set fires.

He's more about droit du seigneur than noblesse oblige. He feels entitled to whatever he wants, from Greenland to Canada to the Kennedy Center to a Nobel Prize he didn't win. Unlike previous presidents, he isn't countering Russia; he's catering to it. He disparaged the NATO troops who died for us in Afghanistan and belittled our nicest neighbor, claiming that "Canada lives because of the United States."

We have watched in horror as Minneapolis has morphed into an eerie war zone: ICE claiming that its officers are allowed to barge into people's homes without judicial warrants; an ICE agent shooting an unarmed mom with stuffed animals in her glove compartment three times until she was dead; ICE dragging a Minnesota man a Hmong immigrant and naturalized U.S. citizen with no criminal record out of his house into the snow, wearing only underwear and Crocs; ICE detaining four children, including little Liam, from one school district. (An F.B.I. agent who wanted to investigate the ICE agent who shot the mom resigned after bureau officials told her to stop her inquiry.)…..

Trump has made America un-American."

The Kennedy Center renaming is kinda stupid, along w a few other things, but the venomous anger from the Left is to be expected.

According to some sources, President Trump just effectively ended the Marshall Plan and its eight-plus decades of preferential treatment for Europe. We subsidized their countries, their businesses, 6-week vacations, and national defense. President Trump is ending that.

On top of all this, the past three decades The Left has committed to the Green New Deal, and the EU is hemorrhaging jobs and businesses. Shockingly, the average British citizen outside of London has a lower household income than the average Mississippi resident. This economic desperation is part of the reason why new immigrants into decemated towns are in an environment that supports of allows child exploitation. The German PM just called the baby ugly and acknowledged their idiotic energy choices - he now wants to build seven new nuclear reactors.

The proof is in the pudding:

- tariff revenue skyrocketing
- big-time manufacturing reshoring, including Big Pharma and silicon chip production
- AI exploding
- car plants expanding
- 4.4% GDP growth
