Well, you don't live in SF now. I do. Born here, and lived here most of my life, except for short stints in San Diego, LA, Berkeley, NYC, and DC.

SF is much harder to live in now than when I was growing up. The City is overcrowded, with the same boundaries, but with 200,000 more residents. (That also means many thousands more cars, with hardly any new parking.) Parts of the City are barely habitable, 3rd World hell holes. The inner city, the Tenderloin, South of Market, Hunters Point, Bayview, Bernal Heights, and much of the Mission. If you live in Pacific Heights, Telegraph or Russian Hill, Nob Hill, Sea Cliff, St Francis Woods, and don't frequent the bad areas, you might avoid the crime. Downtown office buildings are mostly vacant since Covid, and that area could be next to go downhill. Even in middle-class or lower middle class western parts of the city, the Sunset and Richmond Districts, you will rarely see a house that does not have an Iron gate over the front door, or iron bars on any window that is accessible from the outside.

Driving a car is really difficult here, and it can take an hour or more to drive the 6 miles across town. Being a pedestrian is dangerous, as drivers seldom look for you. NO ONE stops for stop signs, and I've seen as many as 15 cars running a red light as a group. Sidewalks are full of bicycles, scooters, skateboarders, unicyclists, roller skates, and many of them motorized and moving much faster than you. Parking is hell here. A few nights ago, I came home, and it took me 3 hours to find a parking space.
If I find a space, it will usually be under a tree. The paint on my car has been ruined by sap from the trees and poop from the birds and squirrels who live in them. And the City regulations make it nearly impossible for a property owner to cut down his own tree. The pavement is in terrible shape, with potholes everywhere it seems. The tree roots lift up the sidewalk tiles, making it dangerous for pedestrians and the young. The City doesn't repair enough potholes and they are not any help getting the sidewalks repaired.

No, my friend, parts of SF are livable if you are an elitist living on a hill in the north side or the Marina. You might live your life never seeing a crime, but for the rest of us, living here is a risky , often unpleasant experience. It has become this way due to over 60 years of Democrat Party rule. The Party controls everything here. Short term or long term. They have run most of the blacks out of town, by making it too expensive for them to live here. SF used to be 25-30% black, but now it is more like 5%. Government redevelopment agencies turned over many of the old real estate to private developers and realtors. You can bet lots of money was exchanged for favors, favoring the wealthy, the Democrats. Parts of the City look different now, lots of condominiums, but still many older buildings with no off street parking.

I'm looking to move. La Jolla perhaps. Or a little studio in Mission or Pacific Beach, San Diego, where it is warm. Friends tell me that San Diego is no better than SF. I'm blaming Democrat politicians for this, especially in San Francisco, and where Gavin Newsom in particular held court. Now he has the gall to try and run for President. If he wins, I hope he picks you for some nice position. You deserve it, for all the support you gave him. You need a new hobby.

Dude, stop. I'm in SF every other week or more for work.

SF is one of the world's great cities.

La Jolla and SD are just fine but boring AF as compared to the CIty and with much worse food options.

Making life unbearable for families, women, children, and honest working people, shouldn't be ignored. Hence the evacuation of families from the City. Because Dems want open borders and ergo housing formulas that don't fit a built out, 7-mile x 7-mile, historic, once liveable city.

Deportations and build some new cities.

The main reason families, women and children have been leaving SF is because of very high housing prices. Homeowners cash in and move/retire to much cheaper locations, while those who can no longer afford to rent or buy there also move out. Black families aren't moving out of SF because birds are pooping over their cars.

The nature of the nicotine pushers bribe to Trump is quite a bit more direct and transactional, and more transparently egregious.

Congress critters do it too, well yes, and you can see me criticize them on that thread dedicated to them, but what you won't find is you and the other endtimer Trumpers ever calling out Dear Leader for these bribes. And let's not mention his money for pardons rackets.

Where did SF City Bear say that?

SF City Bear never claimed that the trees were on his own property.
And he never claimed that the City was denying him the right to cut them down.

Your post assumes facts not based in evidence.

But he did mention that he parks on the street, if he can find a space available.

SFCity was complaining about trees near the street where he would park and get bird poop, not trees in a private property. Cutting sidewalk trees just because some drivers are irate at sap or bird poop messing with their car wash seems a bit over the top.

If people don't want bird poop ruining their paint, then they should pay to park their car in a garage.
Either that, or get a car cover for $75.00 on Amazon and buy a cable lock to secure it.

Problem solved.

I lived in NYC for 10 years.
No one with a nice car parked their car on the street anyway for fear of a break-in.
They paid to park it in a garage.

The paint on my car has been ruined by sap from the trees and poop from the birds and squirrels who live in them. And the City regulations make it nearly impossible for a property owner to cut down his own tree.

So it's the City's fault for having trees that create sap and have birds and squirrels living in them?
Are you serious?

Have you ever thought of using a car cover?
Problem solved.

I think you and whoever starred this missed his point entirely. Is it really that much to ask to be able to cut down a tree on your own property?

SFCity was complaining about trees near the street where he would park and get bird poop, not trees in a private property. Cutting sidewalk trees just because some drivers are irate at sap or bird poop messing with their car wash seems a bit over the top.

He said cutting trees on his own property. Is it really that much to ask to be allowed to do so, bird poop or not?

He looks for a parking spot for 3 hours on his own San Francisco property??

And the City regulations make it nearly impossible for a property owner to cut down his own tree. "

In NYC, the government break into homes and assassinate squirrels.

Love live Peanut.

It's too bad you have less empathy for Palestinian children slaughtered by the tens of thousands than you do for a squirrel.

This is simply not true. I have no empathy for the terrorist squirrels.

Anyone that fails to understand the connection between homeowners not being able to cut their own trees and animals on trees pooping on parked cars in residential neighborhoods seriously needs to go back to Cal and take a course on logic.

Exactly.

Because he's not parking his car anywhere near his home or property.
He's parking it on the street.

Thus, he's blaming the City of San Francisco for bird poop ruining the paint on his car.

And assuming that if homeowners were allowed to cut down trees on their property, they would pay for such an expense to avoid bird poop dropping on OTHER people's cars, when there are no facts in evidence that this would happen in reality.

Anyone that fails to comprehend this needs to go back to Cal and take Philos 12a
