That was from a pro environmental Earth Day poster featuring Pogo Possum.

How much do you multiply that by to get the off the books gains? How about the stock market manipulation?

The Trumps are getting their beaks soggy in everything.

There are different cultures, habits, practices, customs; if Group A doesn't want Group B to change their native culture, morality, peace, stability, why not?

What is a nation? A border, a language, and a culture.

Given global trade and the ability to communicate digitally, I would suggest that the concept of a physical wall or "border" of a Nation State expired a long time ago.

Walt Kelly was the author of Pogo Possum

If you want to call Kelly an author, that's fine with me.

His profession was a cartoonist, which most people creating drawings and dialogue to go with them are called.

He was also an author, by definition, but that is less commonly used (just my opinion) and is a more of a legal term, especially in legal documents such as copyrights.

Go Bears! (And Go Possums!)

He was a big supporter of the original Earth Day and was so inspired by it he came up with a phrase (actually a rephrasing of an old Napoleonic Wars British naval quote) that we all know today and use it for all kinds of things.

I know the phrase from Vin Scully. If the Dodgers committed a couple of errors in the same inning he would inevitably say, "we have met the enemy and he is us". You used it to lament the Supreme Court not rewriting the Constitution. But I think it's good if all users of the phrase know it was originally used as a pro environmental slogan.

You can try to justify this anyway you want but, there is no rational explanation for a U.S. President or his family to make over $2 billion in a year. If Congress was functioning in a bipartisan way then this would not be allowed. You can't think that there won't be investigations and hearings.

For some unexplained reason, the EMOLUMENTS CLAUSE has been paused.

Trump supporters don't care.
They turn and look the other way.

letter and verse..
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreign_Emoluments_Clause
Quote:

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Foreign Emoluments Clause is a provision in Article I, Section 9, Clause 8 of the United States Constitution that prohibits the federal government from granting titles of nobility, and restricts federal officials from receiving gifts, emoluments, offices or titles from foreign states and monarchies without the consent of the United States Congress.[1]

Also known as the Titles of Nobility Clause, it was designed to shield the U.S. federal officeholders against so-called "corrupting foreign influences." The clause is reinforced by the corresponding prohibition on state titles of nobility in Article I, Section 10, and more generally by the Republican Guarantee Clause in Article IV, Section 4.[2]

As the Foreign Emoluments Clause has rarely been subject to substantive judicial analysis or interpretation,[3] its exact meaning and scope remain debated; the consensus among legal scholars is that the prohibition applies broadly to all federal officeholderswhether appointed or elected, up to and including the president and encompasses any kind of profit, benefit, advantage, or services.[4]

Apparently, she earned over $10 million between 2007 - 2014 matching top lawyers with elite law firms.
She was a recruiter.

Forbes - a whistleblower came forward to explain her top-end commissions as a consultant - NOT salary.

"Price submitted the complaint to Congress in December, arguing Roberts' immense commission paymentsreportedly at the high end for what even top legal recruiters earnwere largely due to her husband's role as chief justice.

"Price argued the earnings should be public knowledge and subject to oversight since Roberts worked with firms that had clients before the Supreme Court, telling Insider in an interview he "knew immediately that it was wrong" for Roberts to be associating with the firms."

"...Price argued in an affidavit is "misleading"a supporting memo from Pace University law professor Bennett Gershman added: "Characterizing Mrs. Roberts' commissions as 'salary' is not merely factually incorrect; it is incorrect as a matter of law," according to Insider."

Get used to it. The Obamas, with no background in film making, have a 'production company' produce American Factory, Crip Camp, and Leave the World Behind, etc., and allegedly made $50 million off of that, and $65 million off of their autobiographies.
