There has been massive trolling in the time leading up to the election. Any one not supporting Harris (or even pointing out her obvious weaknesses) was told they were stupid, evil, etc.
I find it odd that somehow this thread was a bridge too far. I saw the original post before it was edited (or at least a version of the original post). It seemed pretty tame by the standards of the board. Not sure why this is on the radar given all the other vitriol posted here.

Maybe it's your first sentence, not this thread. A clue in that direction was the comment that people aren't following the rules, including someone using this board to raise money for a political cause. linking to a political fundraiser is a lot more substantial than the first post in this thread.

One of the problems is that if this board doesn't exist then growls gets clogged.
Initially long ago OT was the wasteland of jettisoned threads - where they go to die.
But then some of us lifted OT up to be its own community. It really took off when trump was running in 2016. He's just such a lightening rod. And I think he's instigated similar traffic all across the country. Extremely polarizing person! Like him or not, you must agree that he's extremely unique in US politics history.
I think the point I'm trying to make is, it's all Trump's fault!

We called me from work early Wednesday morning. I was NOT in the mood. I told him I hadn't slept well and didn't want to hear his celebration.

Definitely recognizable names migrated over from growls to crow about the election, like my friend in SLC. Like, they never come here, but trump won so they come over to rub mud in our eyes. "See, we are justified! It's now okay to (name your crime)".
They probably complained and drew Greg's attention to the OT culture of back and forth sniping.
The links to donate was a new one - that was good to be eliminated.

Unfortunately for my friend, he comes from a seriously whacked family and lacks IQ. His children are also not sharp. It's an interesting case study for me.
Compassion is a word that comes to mind.

But, lifelong friends are hard to come by. Plus, we can laugh!
You know, we university educated folks live in a world of logic and rationality. But I've learned that we humans are anything but.

Disclaimer: Dajo and I are fairly closely aligned on the issues of the day.
That said, he's been wrong on a lot of the politics, going back to the Trump-Biden debate, Can see why he's laying low.
