It was a good read. I agree and disagree with some of her points.

One ad that the Trump campaign ran was especially effective, IMO: A younger Harris pledges free gender-affirming care for prisoners. "Kamala is for they/them. Trump is for you." Ouch.

I thought Harris, personally, did pretty well since July -- coulda been way worse -- but there were some questions that she avoided, instead of being able to answer them solidly. She and Biden should've made a little agreement where she felt free to throw him part way under the bus (wink-wink, nudge-nudge), for the sake of being elected.

Trump made mistakes left and right, but in the debate with Biden and in the assassination attempt, he came across (to many) as a strong leader.

I think it was really stupid of Biden to let himself get caught up in the ego of being a 2-term President. Man's got to know his limitations. But, my parents are getting there, too, and I see them trying to hang on. It's like a survival instinct, I've decided. For me, I'm going to yield more easily, and turn things over to my kids sooner.

And, ultimately, it was stupid for Kamala to accept the mantle via a back room deal. The country needed a contest, not some hand picked successor.

A big problem is most of the country does not share a rosy view of California politicians.
No more women on the ticket. Sad to say it's just too risky. Add on top of that a women of color, and from California.

But Gretchen, I still have my eyes on you baby!

It's a sad conclusion to come to.
The glass ceiling is intact!!!

The Democrat establishment knew Biden had dementia but tried to force him through, with the MSM working with them in lockstep, until they could no longer hide it after the debate.

I am the opposite of a frat guy. I've never been inside one and had basically zero friends at Cal. I lived at home in SF and commuted for five years. Hanging out with people and liking them or being friends with them are different things in my mind. I can find someone fun to hang out with and then leave them and think, "What a large *******". I have some acquaintances like that. The amount of good qualities they have are varied. Make no mistake, I think Trump is a bad person and has the history to prove it. I hope he can do some of the things he's promised in the next four years but I wouldn't bet on it. Kamala...I have no idea. I don't know if she'd be like some of my Dem friends: insufferable with regards to politics (and most other things) or more understanding of my opinions. I just have no feeling about her. Obama, for example, always seemed like an interesting guy. I would love to hang out with him. And some may consider him a big con man. Just feelings.

Is it better to vote for the bad person or the person one has no feeling about?

What will you think when said bad person does bad person things?

Do you think bad person will depart the scene with a functioning democracy - not that we had a very good one to begin with (see: gerrymandering, campaign finance law enforcement, citizens vs united, dark money, and the historical 97% incumbent re-election success rate).

I didn't vote for either. I guess it was my way of protesting. No one cared that I did this but I felt compelled.

For doing what, exactly?
What crime or indiscretion has Liz Cheney committed????

You accuse me of stooping to a new level (prior post) and ask the question above, all while being intentionally and knowingly obtuse.

A simple google search would answer your question (and refute your personal attack on me), yet you don't do that.

Here are the accusations, which are substantiated by emails and other actual evidence. There is a pending ethics complaint.

https://nypost.com/2024/10/15/us-news/ex-rep-liz-cheney-talked-to-jan-6-committee-star-witness-behind-lawyers-back-damning-texts-show/

"According to text messages, that appear to be from the encrypted messaging app Signal, between Hutchinson and Farah Griffin obtained by the Subcommittee, Cheney agreed to communicate with Hutchinson through Farah Griffin.

"However, it appears that Cheney knew communicating with Hutchinson while Hutchinson was represented by an attorney and a subject of the Select Committee's investigation, without going through Hutchinson's attorney, would be unethical" the statement continues.

"This is evident by Farah Griffin's text to Hutchinson that Cheney's 'one concern was so long as [sic] you have counsel, she can't really ethically talk to you without him,'" the oversight committee's statement adds.

It's almost a laughable proposition for me at this point.

Here's what's going to happen:
The chaos candidate is going to be a chaos president once again, and this time it won't take a crazy pandemic to reveal his insane governance (bleach?).

The chaos president is going to figure out some way (as yet undetermined) to stay in power. Elections are not going to happen in the normal way in 2028. He simply is not going to depart the scene gracefully into retirement for some newbie to undo all his wayward policy implementation.

I guess OT is going to have to stay open for 4 more years so we can tune in to see who is right!

Peanuts, bro.
You've got peanuts.

But go ahead and focus on it.
Well done.
Lawfare much?

But thank you for answering my question. I did not know this was the angle of attack.

Just as a review:
Trump steals classified documents and bandies about military secrets with random people at Mar a Lago, then plays a shell game when efforts to recover docs are made.
Dems are accused
of so-called "lawfare"

Trump assembles a rally on the day of electoral college verification, whips them up emotionally with
"You've got to fight like hell or you won't have a country"
"Stop the steal"
and then directs them to "go up to the Capitol",
resulting in an unprecedented physical attack on law officers, the building, and disruption of the democratic process. Aka Coup Attempt.

Dems are accused
of so-called "lawfare"

Trump lies extensively and repeatedly on financial disclosure documents "under penalty of perjury".

Dems are accused
of so-called "lawfare"

Trump rapes woman in department store.

Dems are accused
of so-called "lawfare"

Trump attacks rape victim, against Judge's order.

Dems are accused
of so-called "lawfare"

Trump breaks campaign finance contribution laws by paying for the silence of his sexcapade with porn actress.

Dems are accused
of so-called "lawfare"

But now Liz Cheney is the one who must go to jail??

I believe a person working full time, gainfully employed living in cars / houseless is unacceptable.

Clearly all of the housing policies in CA are not reducing the number of houseless persons. It's not working

" the worst part about the California Apartment Association spending $150 million on rent control disinformation is it's literally OUR RENT MONEY being used against us" this is a cold dynamic…

Only a fraction of people whom become homeless are in that position because of mental illness/ drug addiction, but being on the brink of / becoming homeless can and will bring on mental breakdowns and using of substances to cope. As of 2024, my guess is the economics are anywhere be 75-85% us the primary cause of homelessness. It has been this way since the 80's and as rent has increased the more men and women and children live without substance.

The chaos president is going to figure out some way (as yet undetermined) to stay in power. Elections are not going to happen in the normal way in 2028. He simply is not going to depart the scene gracefully into retirement for some newbie to undo all his wayward policy implementation.

Believing things like this or concentration camps, etc…. It may be time for less Axios, Politico, Left Wing X tweets and MSNBC and time for more walks in the park with a loved one appreciating the fall colors.

But if y'all (not just y'all ). Voted overwhelmingly for involuntary slavery and no rent control and locking up houseless working persons to be slaves in private prisons … concentration camps that United States started first are not a far fetch is it ?

You believe in rent control, do you?

There's a lot of issues in all that.
I agree with you that someone working full time should not be unable to afford housing.
But I also don't believe in rent control.

Have you ever lived in other parts of the country? California rules!! People want to live here! Prices will go up.
That's supply & demand.

California has been losing population.

(I don't think it's because the state is unattractive. It's likely because of cost of living and lack of housing supply.)

Your last paragraph is a flat-out lie. People become homeless, generally speaking, due to a lifetime of poor decisions, and many times, a poor work ethic is involved. They have burned all of their bridges and alienated all of their friends and family. Because, had they not done that, they'd be couch surfing, not homeless.

100%

But people seem to think they have an absolute right to live where they want at the price they can afford. And unfortunately, that's not how it works.

It's true that we need better solutions. But Rent Control, at least as I understand how it's implemented, is a loser!

I think the discussion could evolve to "okay, what ARE some better solutions?"

Do we want to increase housing stock such that 70M live in California??

There are massive issues. Can California even supply enough water for that many? Where can?

It's SimCity!

Back up in most recent numbers.

And the decline was because people in-state have been moving to cheaper states (supply and demand in action) with foreign immigration temporarily declining due to Covid.

Houston is cheap.
You could live there.
But it sucks, so you don't.

Hey, I couldn't afford the house I wanted in the bay (5 kids) in the school districts I preferred. So, supply and demand, I left. I live 1:45 minutes away.

Rent control… it's economically a loser.

Communities certainly change, and it sucks to get priced out. But society doesn't owe people the right. It's a competitive world and that's what propels us forward.

Absolutely. My dream wasn't to live in West Pittsburg (Bay Point for you newbies) after having grown up in SF.

Is there a BI pool where we can bet on whether Liz Cheney gets convicted? All bets off if Sixth Amendment suspended and it is trial by tribunal.

Better yet- in the fashion of Dad- she's sent to Gitmo in a black bag or- be still my heart- tossed out of an airplane

There is a pending ethics complaint.

https://www.newsweek.com/liz-cheney-donald-trump-january-6-committee-witness-cassidy-hutchinson-1969922

https://nypost.com/2024/10/15/us-news/ex-rep-liz-cheney-talked-to-jan-6-committee-star-witness-behind-lawyers-back-damning-texts-show/

https://aflegal.org/america-first-legal-files-bar-complaint-on-behalf-of-stefan-passantino-against-former-congresswoman-liz-cheney-for-secret-communications-with-j6-committee-witness-cassidy-hutchinson/

More in this twitter thread:

I'm rather late getting to this, but I wanted to get some clarification. Anarchistbear (and maybe you) are proposing that Liz Cheney get the death penalty for ethics violations?
