Hegseth's personal life is a total disaster

Former Republican National Committee spokesperson Tim Miller said Pete Hegseth's personal life is "a total disaster," even if you believe his side of the story.

Hegseth, the Fox News host whom Donald Trump nominated to be defense secretary, claims he was cleared of sexual assault allegations stemming from a 2017 incident during a Republican conference at a hotel in California.

Hegseth said that the encounter was consensual and that he entered into a nondisclosure agreement in 2020 with the woman who accused him.

But Miller said on MSNBC on Thursday that even Hegseth's perspective on events is disturbing enough to sink his "preposterous" nomination.

"Here's what Pete Hegseth is pitching people happened in this situation:

In this situation, he's drunk at a conservative conference.

At 1:30 a.m., he's screaming about how he has freedom of speech and berating a hotel staffer," Miller said, referring to details from a police report.

"Then he takes a woman back to his hotel room for what he says is consensual sex."

Miller pointed out that Hegseth was in the process of getting divorced from his second wife because he had a child with a co-worker who would become his third wife.

"I'm not judging anybody that's been divorced or whatever, like this guy's life is a disaster. This guy's personal life is a total disaster," Miller said.

"And he has a love child,
and he's in between marriages,
and he's drunkenly shouting at hotel staff
and he's having another affair, meanwhile, with not one of the three women that are his wives.

If somebody's personal life is that much of a disaster, would you want them in one of the most important jobs in the world?"

Miller said some might be willing to overlook those issues in a candidate with the right rsum for the job and better judgment in their professional life.

"But he's a talk show host," he said. "He's a weekend morning talk show host. This is a preposterous pick on every level: He's not qualified for the job, and the judgment that he's shown privately leaves much to be desired."

See the full discussion below.
Tim Miller enters at the 7:40 mark.

Bill Clinton ****ed anything that walked while he was married - including WH interns that were less than half his age - and before that used Arkansas State Troopers to enable his extra marital Governor diddling. It is a safe bet that you were not overly concerned about his fitness for the highest office.

Republicans impeached Clinton 30 years ago for a consensual blowjob, yet today turn away from ALL sexual picadillos, even rape. That's curious.

Defending / minimizing Clinton just detracts from one's credibility. He admitted to Jennifer Flowers and Lewinsky affairs. He was accused of sexual assault/rape/affairs by Broaderrick, Millwee, Jones and Willey. And then there's this (from Wiki):

"Other accusations
In April 1998, Inside Edition reported that Cristy Zercher, a former flight attendant, had accused Clinton of groping and fondling her on a 1992 campaign flight while his wife Hillary was sleeping nearby. A release announcing the results of Zercher's polygraph test stated that she had negative ratings for truthfulness on four questions asked the week prior.[45]
In 1999, Eileen Wellstone reiterated to reporters that she had accused Clinton of sexually assaulting her in 1969, when they were students at Oxford.[46][47] Wellstone filed a complaint with the university, but no charges were brought against Clinton.[47]
A campaign staffer, Sandra Allen James, accused Clinton of sexually assaulting her in his hotel room in 1991. She claimed that he exposed himself to her and forced her to conduct oral sex on him while they were sitting on the couch.[46]
A former professor from the University of Arkansas claimed Clinton had groped a female student and tried to trap her in his office when he was a professor. This would later be backed up by a piece written by Daniel Harris and Teresa Hampton, which alleged that students at the university confirmed that Clinton had tried to force himself on them when he was a professor.[48]
Karen Hinton, who served in the Clinton administration under the HUD Secretary Andrew Cuomo, told journalist Michael Isikoff that Clinton had harassed her at a fundraiser in 1984. Hinton claimed that Clinton had been staring at her and that he wrote down his hotel room number and a question mark on a napkin and gave it to her, which she said made her feel humiliated. Her allegations were published in Isikoff's book Uncovering Clinton.[49]
In November 2017, sources within the Democratic Party told author and former foreign editor of Newsweek Edward Klein that Clinton was being accused of sexual assault by four women. The plaintiffs alleged that the assaults took place shortly after the end of his presidency in the early 2000s, while they were in their late teens. A member of Clinton's legal team confirmed the existence of new allegations against Clinton."

I'm going to preemptively rebut your predicted response by saying yes, Trump is not a saint either.

Let's review the arc of this conversation.

The thread indicates the thread is about Hegseth's life being a mess, a joke. He is currently up for bids as the head of the defense department - quite relevant to todays action.

Then someone somehow mentioned Clinton and so we are now no longer discussing the mess that Hegseth is.

Hmmm.

I'm not here to accuse or defend things Clinton did 30 years ago. He has been retired for a loooong time.
But Trump is a mess, and his chosen people are a mess. That's the here and now.

Are you intending to re-direct attention from the mess of the here and now?

I'm sorry. Why did you infer I accused you of rape? No, no! Heavens forbid, those are fighting words! And I did not!

I also should note, the above commenter said "while married". That's adultery. I do not accuse you of that. I am mistaken in that inference, and apologize.

The OP quoted Miller who said H wasn't qualified because of sleeping around and divorces. The point is this: we passed the threshold of personal pecadillos disqualifying someone for (even) higher office about 30 years ago. Hell, the Senate has a secret slush fund for paying off women. The fact H got drunk and was seduced by some woman even though he was married is a stupid argument re his qualifications. Stick to his thin traditional qualifications - that's got merit.

That a guy like Hegseth, in his prime, multiple marriages and not some inexperienced virginal teen, was a drunken victim of being seduced is downright laughable for the absurdity of the suggestion.

It is also true that he will be the least traditionally qualified nominee to the position maybe ever. He has the Ivy degrees and was an Army Major. He's not a buffoon. But Other candidates were commonly Sectetaries of a branch of the service or an undersecretary at DOD. IE, substantial administrative responsibility. These are legit challenges to his nomination.

Tom, you're dealing with members of a cult. They are brainwashed and cannot think for themselves.

And you are a paragon of independent thought, all your positions and world views are truly unique.

He was very drunk. She was sober. She was texting her husband about him, how all the women wanted to **** him. She led him to his hotel room. Multiple eye witnesses. Hotel video. Police report. It's out there for everyone to see if you look at sources besides Axios, Politico and MSNBC.

Ha! Your excuse of "he was seduced" is even more laughable this morning.

Hegseth's own mother wrote this email to him in 2018 when he was going through a divorce. Now, in the traditional world, it sinks all ships!

Quote:

You are an abuser of women that is the ugly truth and I have no respect for any man that belittles, lies, cheats, sleeps around, and uses women for his own power and ego. You are that man (and have been for years) and as your mother, it pains me and embarrasses me to say that, but it is the sad, sad truth. I am not a saint, far from it.. so don't throw that in my face,. but your abuse over the years to women (dishonesty, sleeping around, betrayal, debasing, belittling) needs to be called out. ... It's time for someone (I wish it was a strong man) to stand up to your abusive behavior and call it out, especially against women.

Looks like the title of this thread was mild. How did media obtain this email? Did his mother disapprove of him so much that she released it? That's my own guess, but however, wow! You're fired! She's basically imploring the Strong Men of the Senate to vote him down.

Disclaimer: maybe this is fake news. A planted story by the fake Main Stream Media.

UPDATE: the above was so explosive I didn't even wait to read on:

Quote:

The Times said it obtained a copy of the email from someone "with ties to the Hegseth family." Penelope Hegseth told the news outlet that she sent the email "in anger" during her son's divorce and that she immediately followed up with another email to apologize. She also disavowed her first email, saying her accusations are not true and that her son "is a good father, husband."
Hegseth did not immediately provide the Times with a copy of the follow-up email. (Neither MSNBC nor NBC News has obtained a copy of either email.) Pete Hegseth's lawyer declined to comment, but Trump's transition team provided a statement, saying it was "shameful but not surprising that the NYT is publishing a story about one out of context snippet from an illegally obtained private conversation between a mother and her son."
