Honestly, not remotely funny.
Your attempt at a joke, which has sadly received 4 stars, is part and parcel to the problem we have with political lines drawn in the "us vs them" mindset.

Ha Ha Ha. I used to be involved with competitive tactical shooting. It's like my golf game. I currently suck but some remnants of prior skill are still in the dna somewhere and come out every now and again. My son accused me of showing off. I shared with him how fast legitimately good shooters are. Think the Michael Jordan's of firearms. He leaves for basic training Tuesday. It's been nice to have some time together without fighting.

The disconnect between the mainstream media and social media on this is illuminating.

The main stream is covering this front page but why? Because he's rich, powerful and shot in the street and this is supposed to be shocking! People are shot on the streets every day.

Social media otoh largely views this as a righteous murder of a parasite. Fact is most people hate these companies and the murder of one of them with delay and deny written on the bullets is highly recognizable vigilante justice

Because USA is led by leaders. Leaders of companies, of municipalities, of various "arenas" of power, like a judge or a school principal.

And if we are going to resort to taking out leaders we don't like by this method… well… that's a big deal!

It would be a shift in collective mindset, because generally we don't do that.

The 60's had a series of assassinations. Not good. Let's not return to that as a common practice. Say no to violence, say yes to political process, or peaceful protests of said process:

I saw a retweet of a UHC post (?) announcing his murder. There were something like >5K reactions of laughter.

I'm really disgusted with humanity over these reactions.

It's all understandable. Americans are pissed off at the political classes - Trump's win was essentially a vote for disruption. Americans care about health care - it's a major cost, worry and issue except with both parties who are committed to the current system. So when something like this happens there is little sympathy for the victim who is just an example of corporate greed not a human. Maybe more corporate heads need to die before there is reform- sometimes that's the way things work
"More corporate heads need to die before there is reform" Wow, this post and others like it are so terribly disappointing to read. America and our institutions are certainly no shining city on a hill, but our rule of law and ability to reform are much better than most. Murder is not the solution. And for this individual to blame this one CEO - someone's son, brother, husband and father - for their individual case is clearly misguided on so many levels. The reactions of many to this murder are shocking and disgusting.

Highly unlikely. One, corporate bureaucracies don't move that quickly. Two, Fortune 500 companies don't list CEO openings on Monster, LinkedIn or Craigslist. I could see someone posting a parody listing as a humorous prank

I'm sort of surprised this hasn't happened before. But when you consider that most health insurance CEOs have enough self awareness that they are persona non grata throughout most society, why wouldn't he have tighter security and less exposure?

Murder is wrong, and I feel sorry for his family and friends. This should serve as a turning point in the public discussion about medical insurance. For profit health care is the root of the problem. Medicare for All.

There is no rule of law and no accountability for the political and economic elites. Be it bankers, torturers, starters of illegal wars, opioid addiction, spying on Americans, cronyism, pardons, etc. etc, there are no consequences. People mistakenly say "our democracy is at stake" which is a joke because people realize it is already gone and their lives have nothing to do with their leaders; consequently they are either apathetic or triggered.

With respect to murder it's probably not the best strategy; but many more people and families have been ruined and killed by health care providers. Their stories are not on the front page. Perhaps the heads of certain organizations should better understand the consequences of their bottom line and be in fear because of it.

Murder isn't just "not the best strategy" it is illegal, immoral and wrong. Always.

Always remember, the justifications used today against another person can be used against you tomorrow by someone else.

The reference to no rule of law and accountability is ironic coming from someone who's handle references Anarchy.

Yes the justifications of rapacious insurance companies - deny, ignore, leave to die- were used by someone else, the shooter. One's corporate: the other personal

In an anarchic society the decision making and accountability would not be hierarchical because you are responsible to and govern with your peers- a democratic society, unlike this one

I used to comment on that disconnect that as a kid:

"Mom, why was an entire nation so sad when JFK was assassinated yet no one cares that much about this high school yearbook looking issue of Life magazine filled with photos of every American soldier killed in Vietnam last week?"

"The death of an individual can have a powerful effect on our emotions, but as numbers rise so does our indifference. Why?

"If I look at the mass I will never act. If I look at the one, I will." These are the words of a woman whose acts of charity and kindness earned her sainthood Mother Teresa.
They exemplify one of the most baffling aspects of the human response to the plight of others. While most of us will see a single death as a tragedy, we can struggle to have the same response to large-scale loss of life. Too often, the deaths of many simply become a statistic.
The millions of lives lost in natural disasters, wars or to famine, for example, grow too large to fathom."

There's an ABC/NY report that police believe the gunman used a particular gun. The model is pretty rare. And the gun functions really uniquely. This is such a stupid weapon to use because so few were sold it would be relatively easy to track down every single one of them. Watching the video of the shooting again, I have to say I am not sure I agree with the report about the weapon that was used.

I did some poking around and learned that suppressors mess up the function of semi-auto firearms. The extra weight of the suppressor requires additional energy to make the gun's slide fully function. So if you use a suppressor your gun is not going to function properly. Upon closer examination of the video it appears the killer is not clearing jams with the first two shots but instead is pulling the slide back - in effect manually circumventing the gun's inability to cycle a round. He was pretty proficient at doing it too. More proficient than I am, that's for sure. Gotta believe he had spent some prior time operating this particular gun to have that knowledge and skill. I'm still not ready to say it is an assassin but there is some not insignificant firearms weirdness going on here, that's for sure.
