I just spent 15 minutes of my valuable time catching up on the last few weeks of this thread. Since I will never get those minutes back, I thought I should share with you a "fact" about Greenland that no one has mentioned:
For the people -- even experts -- who say that Greenland is the "world's biggest island", that is just according to the Mercator projection of the world map, which greatly exaggerates land masses the further they are from the equator. Greenland is actually about the size of Alcatraz, give or take.

Hmmm, Denmark might be interested in a $$ partner on running Greenland. All we really want is passage and right to deny passage to others. As to Panama, make a deal and try to keep China out of our sphere of interest. Trump and his crew will do things totally at odds with "how things are normally done." That is why they were elected. How does controlling Greenland affect shipping passage, unless you are taking military efforts to do so.
Obviously, Greenland controls the important shipping lanes between far northern Norway and Hudson Bay.
