The left is destroying Gavin Newsom on social media for the interview he had with Charlie Kirk.
Then the left is stupid. Newsom is far more wiling to hear different views and then react, and clearly is a smart dude. He may be a more potential, reasonable candidate than people appreciate, especially after several years of Trump.
Did you listen to the interview?
The Kirk interview yes.
Newsom did something you might want to consider - he listened. He rightfully doesn't see the election as Trump won, as much as the Democrats lost and lost certain minorities and generationally. Kirk actually seems to understand politics of today, and he when through how and why Harris finished 13% lower with the under 30 vote, despite having college graduate degreed under 30 crowd vote overwhelmingly for Harris. That was enough to sway the election.
There was an interesting conversation about the college elite crowd visualizing everything as offensive regardless of issue (you might want to revisit your female dog commentary), and how that basically puts Democrat elites on the wrong side of 80-20 issues. Both Newsom and Kirk raised the transgender in womens sports issue as an example. Newsom didn't see his support against transgender athletes as pandering or moving to the right, but common sene. There also was a fascinating conversation regarding wokeness, DEI, free speech and related issues (Newsom pushed back some - do you hate everything with three letters?), but Newsom basically saying he problems with some of the stuff, but there were legitimate concerns that all this addresses. In any event, it was nice to see a fairly collegial intellectual exchange by Newsom with people he generally disagrees with. That is important - they won.
Maybe in a few years voters will want an adult that can engage. Kirk, in particular, has been branded by the left elites as deeply evil (which seems to be a consistent problem the right has) and racist, and that really didn't turn out to be the case. He just said a lot of things the left doesn't like to hear about why the election went the way it did, and Democratic vulnerabilities. It may be that Newsom wanted to listen so he doesn't make the same mistakes other did.
Newsom is a fairly moderate political figure who is tainted by the abuses of a one party state. Perhaps he understands something that Democratic leaders never got about not talking down to people or past people you disagree with.
