Two extremes on the trans athletes issue...

Extreme on the right: "There are only two genders and they are assigned at (or before) birth (or by God, who is infallible). Girls'/women's sports should be reserved for girls/women, no exceptions."

Extreme on the left: "Everybody should be allowed to do every damn thing as the gender that they identify as, no exceptions."

Seems like there is a wide swath of middle ground there... but we are no longer a society that attempts to find middle ground.

Sad.

If there is an exception to the fact that there are only two genders, the wide swath in the middle probably don't care.

I was told nothing Newsom is saying right now is what he actually believes. I can't believe he allowed Michael Savage on his podcast.

Newsom and Michelle Obama have both started podcasts within 2 weeks of each other. Coincidence?

The Gavinator is going all out and is on speaking terms with Steve Bannon too? Is he going to invite Elon Musk to his podcast next and crack some jokes? I applaud the gesture but won't this upset the libs?

Trump was once a Democrat. Most of the Republican politicians that used to say true vicious things about Trump are now superglued to his non spray tanned taint.

Didn't you know politics is all about power and nothing else? No prior held purported belief disqualifies you from espousing a position which is a 180 degree reversal. Hypocrisy is a quaint and deceased concept.

Even look at yourself. Once a Bernie supporter, now all in for Trump, I realize you want him to destroy America, but he is still your guy now.

…..and as I posted this I was watching this commercial:

Trying to step back from his whacky extreme governing style to now suddenly take common sense positions. So transparent.

Long term, top marginal state capital gains tax rate for Oregon not so hot either but still better compared to California - 13.3%.

I'm not disputing these numbers but it does seem silly to take a survey about Newsom's podcasts when 99.8% of the people surveyed haven't listened to them.

Californians should be more concerned about Newsom than Elon.

California is currently looking down the barrel of a possible budget shortfall of ten billion dollars, or possibly more than that. This news comes after it was reported that the state their state-run healthcare plan, which covers illegal aliens, is over budget by billions.

Yes, California provides healthcare coverage for illegal immigrants through its Medi-Cal program.

The left is destroying Gavin Newsom on social media for the interview he had with Charlie Kirk.
Then the left is stupid. Newsom is far more wiling to hear different views and then react, and clearly is a smart dude. He may be a more potential, reasonable candidate than people appreciate, especially after several years of Trump.

Binderbro also simultaneously cool with Trump's budget.

Not a hypocrite.

Did you listen to the interview?
The Kirk interview yes.

Newsom did something you might want to consider - he listened. He rightfully doesn't see the election as Trump won, as much as the Democrats lost and lost certain minorities and generationally. Kirk actually seems to understand politics of today, and he when through how and why Harris finished 13% lower with the under 30 vote, despite having college graduate degreed under 30 crowd vote overwhelmingly for Harris. That was enough to sway the election.

There was an interesting conversation about the college elite crowd visualizing everything as offensive regardless of issue (you might want to revisit your female dog commentary), and how that basically puts Democrat elites on the wrong side of 80-20 issues. Both Newsom and Kirk raised the transgender in womens sports issue as an example. Newsom didn't see his support against transgender athletes as pandering or moving to the right, but common sene. There also was a fascinating conversation regarding wokeness, DEI, free speech and related issues (Newsom pushed back some - do you hate everything with three letters?), but Newsom basically saying he problems with some of the stuff, but there were legitimate concerns that all this addresses. In any event, it was nice to see a fairly collegial intellectual exchange by Newsom with people he generally disagrees with. That is important - they won.

Maybe in a few years voters will want an adult that can engage. Kirk, in particular, has been branded by the left elites as deeply evil (which seems to be a consistent problem the right has) and racist, and that really didn't turn out to be the case. He just said a lot of things the left doesn't like to hear about why the election went the way it did, and Democratic vulnerabilities. It may be that Newsom wanted to listen so he doesn't make the same mistakes other did.

Newsom is a fairly moderate political figure who is tainted by the abuses of a one party state. Perhaps he understands something that Democratic leaders never got about not talking down to people or past people you disagree with.

I used to be a Newsom advocate but that ended after the interview with Charlie Kirk. Newsom is a great, respectful debater and I was looking forward to hearing a great, respectful debate. He has done this many times before in which he listens and advocates for his side strongly and with facts and wins the debate.

But Newsom spent the entire interview with Charlie Kirk fawning over him, ceding the ground on all topics, and never really challenging him. It was a puff piece that should have been on Fox News with a Fox News host. It became clear to me that Newsom was not the person for the time.

I don't think his podcasts are meant to be a debate. I would not evaluate him solely on one podcast. .Btu you are certainly entitled to your opinion.
