Lakers just lost 3 in a row. Glad to see it. Good riddance.

At the end of game 4, lakers had 9 seconds to try and in bound dribble down and get a game tying shot. They needed a Tius Edny type dribble race to other end of the court.

Unfortunately, Luka looked like a sloth-mastodon trying to even get to half court let alone find someone open following a screen.

As a result, the last second heave had no chance.

This made Luka look like the wrong player for the position.

Warriors going down

I'd bet a lot of money against that. They were making a statement:

"No way we lose 3 in a row.*"

Warriors tanked that game.

*They lost 3 in a row to Cleveland in 2016….but Draymond got suspended for punching James in the nads.

Don't forget Bogut getting injured!!

As for this year… I said after Game 1 that the rockets would figure it out and win the series. I said it again after game 3.
I figured I was wrong after game 4, but now I'll jump out and say it again after game 5.

It actually looks quite easy. The warriors are playing 5-out with zero activity in the paint. The Rockets are defending aggressively on the perimeter and jumping the passing lanes. The Rockets bigs can sag on draymond and weak side.

At the other end of the court, the warriors must collapse on Rockets size allowing open 3's.

Last night's finish was entertaining from a SF Slop standpoint. Nice to see Rockets having to bring their starters back in AND get caught up in the scrum. Sengun blew the finishing attempt in game 4 due to immaturity and then was immature in the Spencer facedown. I would not put it past them to lose another this way. But Amen Thompson looks to be growing up, VV has been great from deep for 2 games now, and Jalen Green is the only one who can stop Jalen Green.

The warriors roster is flawed. Kerr has fallen in love with small ball as his calling card, and Curry's greatness makes it seem alright. In truth, basketball requires tall people.

The Dutch guy, post, is fun, but not enough. Watching him move on defense is a bit cringe-inducing.
Looney barely plays anymore.
TJD was a starter, now looks like he'll be on some overseas roster next, per Kerr's rotation.
And Kuminga might as well be already.

No center, and Kerr can't decide between Moody, Podz, and Buddy Hield…

Udoka says: just go double team Curry and pound the paint.

We'll see!

If Houston can't grab game 6 in SF, you'll win your money. But if they do, does any SF fan like our chances in game 7 in Houston? I sure don't!

But do tell me how I'm wrong. I'll enjoy being wrong.

I think the Warriors probably win the series at home in the next game. It's not unusual for a team to make a desperate last stand at home in Game 5 when they're down but wind up losing the next one. Role players tend to be better at home, the more desperate team plays harder, etc. Just how it goes in the NBA.

If they drop that game? Yeah, it gets dicey. But Game 7s are also just pretty weird all around so I'd give about a 50/50 proposition there, not that much advantage to the home team.

Does Playoff Jimmy have the type of injury that's going to improve even if he's playing on it every 2-3 days?

Perhaps an even bigger question is Steph's thumb.

Someone took a photo of him getting on or off the plane in Houston and they zoomed in on his thumb. It was swollen up pretty big. This was mentioned to him during an interview, but he just shrugged it off not wanting to make excuses and "it is what it is" but it's certainly an issue.

If you've ever had a thumb injury before, not only does it take forever to heal but you can't even write with a pen. You can't grip anything.

The longer this series goes, I think it favors the younger Rockets.
Winning at Chase on Friday is a MUST!

Luka and LeBron were playing in an old timers game

Edit: Minnesota is a fun team but should've won that game by 20

Lakers missed Anthony Davis in that game. Rudy Gobert did whatever he wanted.

PS. Isn't bad enough that a person has to suffer through being a Cal fan?

Is he approaching the 20,000 workbench record yet? Asking for a friend, Big C.

*I saw Wilt in person twice in my life and it wasn't on the court. My Dad took me to the finish line of the Bay to Breakers (the Great Highway) in 1968 (won by Kenny Moore, running for Army). Wilt was there watching the finish.
I next saw him in 1977 at a track meet at Edwards. I had a camera with me and snapped this photo as he walked by my row:

*I read once that Wilt had the talent to be an Olympic decathlete but for one event: he couldn't pole vault worth a darn.

Yeah but he could do that because the whole Lakers team seemed pretty indifferent about rebounding.

I had just moved to LA in the early '90's and was driving in the SF Valley when here comes this HUGE man riding a bike. This was on Victory Blvd near Reseda Blvd. Turned out it was Wilt. I was stunned at his size. Think this was maybe '92 or '93.

Clearly, the North Coast Section Meet of Champions.
The Top 3 would qualify for the CIF State Meet.

What a "treat" to see Wilt in person like this!

You'd never know who you'd find in the stands at the "MOC".
A truly fantastic sporting event held at Edwards every May, now removed to Dublin High.

The CIF State Track Meet is one of the greatest things you can ever attend.
Held down in Clovis at a drop-dead gorgeous stadium at Buchanon High School at the end of May.

Watch Acalanes High in Lane 6.
The team of Torres, Bielawski, Rogers, and Kuhner.

3-star recruit Trevor Rogers is now at CAL playing wide receiver. His brother played football for the Bears and his sister played soccer at Cal. A cousin played volleyball at Cal. Dad John played water polo at Cal on an NCAA Championship team.

Rogers won the State Long Jump with a jump of 24-03.75 on his final attempt.
In prelims, he was out over 24-07.

A great Cal Bear family!

That was Dijon Stanley on the 2nd leg for Granada Hills burning up the track!

Dude ran for over 2,700 yards and 33 touchdowns on 234 carries in 14 games at John Elway's alma mater.

On the track, Stanley earned a medal in four events at the CIF State Track and Field Championships in May.

He won the 400 meters in 45.77 seconds, beating his state-leading time of 45.92. He placed second in the 200 (20.95), and helped the 4100 relay team finish first and the 4400 relay team finish third.

Now at UTAH.

In retrospect, Kerr should have started his bench in Game 5. How do you find yourselves down 30 points in a playoff game?

The Warriors are not showing any of the things they need to show to close the gap in the amount of time left.
As they are taking our milk money in the paint (40/20), we are bricking 3's.

Rockets figured out that they should just keep Adams in all the time. Trying to trick them with fouling didn't work this time.

This is probably done unless Steph has a Superman game next time (which is possible!).

Down by 2 after three quarters.
Cant score in the 4th.

With VanVleet making shots the Rockets are a different team. The double big lineup is a tough matchup with someone who can shoot

Man, I just can't be mad about anything that happens with the Warriors at this point. We won four titles with Steph Curry. He's in the twilight of his career, when declining performance is to be expected. Just enjoy the ride.

Curry was fine.
Podz, Post, Payton, and Hield were ice cold.
