Basic Econ 101 tells you that when you cut the SUPPLY of LABOR, the PRICE goes up.

Anti-Immigration is INFLATIONARY.

In fact, assuming 1.3 million in deportations this means that the Unemployment Rate will remain at only 4.2% for the rest of this year with only 70,000 a month in non-farm payroll increases. For 2026, only 50,000.

Yes of course, wages going up would be a terrible thing from your BoomerCon perspective.

I bet you never took Econ 1 at CAL.

Why Thousands of High-Paying Construction Jobs Go Unfilled - Arcoro

Those construction jobs go unfilled just like all the tech jobs go unfilled and magically we need indians imported in the country to fill them!

I can't wait to see the guy that loves "movies" picking strawberries in Watsonville.

Yep, in 2021 executives were hysterical because of the worker shortage. High immigration in 2022-2023 normalized the worker shortage, helped to normalize inflation, and gave America the greatest Covid recovery in the world. During the same period real incomes at the bottom half surged past what they were pre-covid.

Naturally, maga hated all these positive developments because the country looked more brown.

Exactly.

Sadly, Trump wants to emulate President McKinley the "Tariff King".

He thinks that the growth that the U.S. experienced in the late 1800's and into the early 1900's was because of tariffs . . . and had nothing to do with the railroads or a massive amount of immigration.

He couldn't be more wrong.
