King Trump put on an excellent parade that was very classy. Loved it.

It was OK for a pointless waste of taxpayer dollars that few cared enough about to attend.

The Navy's 250th birthday is October 13, 2025. Trump announced the U.S. Navy 250th anniversary parade will take place on June 14, 2026.

I'm not a big fan of this type of military parade. For one, I just don't like parades.

But I did watch a bit of it and thought it was very nice that past and present military members were honored - true patriots. It is a very worthy endeavor to recognize the sacrifice and achievements of the US military. The (admittedly small) parts of the parade I saw did exactly that.

What amazes me in all this is that the dems think they are gaining traction in holding a "counter protest" to an event honoring the military. Do they think that attracts voters?

We're going to have 250th anniversary parades every 2 years from now on.

Maybe shooting lawmakers, taking governors hostage (or threatening to arrest them), or coup d'etat attempts do?

Apparently so.
It has worked for thousands of years.

Spinal Tap parade

Trump made the army look bad with his corporate sponsors, terrible music, sparse parade, that was lightly attended by his low energy supporters

Sorry, Trump has openly been a fanboy of totalitarian state style military parades for years, wanted to have one during Trump I, but it got kiboshed by some of the sane minds that surrounded him then.

This parade was all about Trump, everyone knows it, trying to paint objection to the parade as disrespecting the military is laughable. This was not how the U.S. Army wanted to celebrate its birthday (unless you ask one of the demagogue loyalist generals Trump elevated when he got rid of the generals serving, not the King, but the Constitution and the nation).

I was, however, impressed by the attendance at the parade as reported by Fox News: 6 million

Demonstrations and protests are just staged for social media purposes and for the sniping and counter sniping that appears like clockwork- fascists, socialists- like those terms have any reference in the USA . Both events yesterday were a waste of time.

Cool story.

Will the Navy and Marines also get a $45 million dollar parade this year?
They were both founded in 1775.

How did this board get the anarchist that believes in big government and not action from the people? We got cheated.

The day was overtaken by the MAGAts murder of a Dem lawmaker's family, as well as the shooting at the No Kings protest as well as the cars being into crowds by MAGAts in SF and in Culpeper, VA.

MAGATs, behaved as expected

The armed forces advertising budget is around $180M, so the parade's budget is in line with that. Not sure how much the corporate sponsors (Lockheed Martin, Palantir etc) contributed, but that's got to be a great bang for their buck in terms of meeting HR demands for their ongoing and upcoming wars.

Might be a challenge to get the subs and carriers marching down the street.

The marquee event of that celebration will be when a battleship shells downtown San Francisco.

Want to feel proud of the US military? Go on a tour of the aircraft carrier USS Hornet (CV 12) at the former Alameda Naval Air Station. See the conditions that sailors and pilots lived, worked, and fought in. Talk to a docent who actually served on a carrier. Commissioned in 1943, this is the eighth ship to bear the name Hornet, going all the way back to 1775. Its predecessor, CV 8, carried the Doolittle raiders from Alameda NAS. I suppose it's possible to avoid feeling patriotic as you walk through the ship, but you'll have to work at it.

After that, head over to Faction Brewing for some good beer and an excellent view of The City.

Excellent idea!

My Dad used to donate some time over on the USS Hornet back in the day.

Here's an F18 Hornet being trucked over to the Hornet.
This aircraft flew on Day #1 of Operation Desert Storm while serving aboard the USS Saratoga.

I want to see where the Lizard King's dad, Rear Admiral George Stephen Morrison, hung out.

In your opinion, do you think Trump should fire Hegseth because the Army disrespected him?

Awesome. Just like Dems did in the Biden years, Trump fans talking themselves into the idea that every lame thing the administration does is actually helping them.

Google it.

Nothing is planned.

Which pretty tells everyone that this "parade" had more to do with the Commander in Chump's Birthday than actually celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the U.S. Army.

You're welcome.

The Army gets a $40 million parade. What about the Navy, Marines?
