I always felt like Ott was slow out of the backfield. I figured he would not shine at a higher level because of it.

I would agree.

Supposedly, his 40 time was 4.46
But it's hard to believe given that he was running the 100m at Bishop Gorman in May of 2021 in 11.34
And that was his personal best.

Jaydn Ott - NV Track & Field Bio

I've seen Ott on enough long runs to be able to say without a doubt that he is fast. Maybe he hardly ever ran track.

He's the kind of back that tries to read his blocks, which can be great provided there are blocks to read. Last year there weren't many.

Jahvid ran 10.31 at State with a 2.4 m/s wind.

Probably my favorite backfield bear of all time!

Indeed he did; Jahvid was very fast. He was, as you know, also an accomplished track sprinter.

Ott is fast, but clearly not that fast. My point was, maybe he never ran track too much. The way he ran away from defensive backs, he looks faster than an 11.3 guy.

Maybe we need to see highlights of this speed that Oklahoma is getting.

This is problematic and laughable, too.

First, the laugh: newsflash - nobody from CA or NY wants to move to your state!

Second, the problem.
Any time you have some central government filter people by their political beliefs, that's no good.
And I can't help think someone who wants to sue probably has a pretty good case. No?

I actually agree with the bolded statement. Government should not use schools to impose mandated political beliefs.

Now that we agree on that, I wonder. Have you seen the California curriculum including the so-called ethnic studies requirement? The adoption has been, at best, deeply political (enforcing DEI and other leftist beliefs) with a smattering of overt racism/antisemitism thrown in.

If you don't criticize the CA curriculum, then your real objection to what Oklahoma is doing is that it enforced conservative norms.

Do you have kids in school? Or recently? I can tell you that no K-12 school " enforces" DEI. I mean what do you think they do, lead chants and send Johnny home if he doesn't say "institutional racism" outl oud? It is almost farcical how much influence conservatives place on schools - as if it were that easy. Let me tell you, if teachers could indoctrinate they would be getting those kiddos to ace their mandated state tests and especially indoctrinate them into classroom rules ;-)

More troubling (I would agree) is social sciences and liberal arts in college and the focus on evaluating knowledge through writing essays. Sadly I do think it is easier for undergrads to skate through by parroting the party line.

In California, I have a bigger issue with politics driving pedagogical approaches that don't actually work because they are seen as more in line with "equity" or whatever. Being against advanced placement and magnet schools, not teaching Algebra in 8th grade, that kind of thing. The thinking is that by forcing the more gifted students to stay with the average ones it will raise everyone's scores but AFAIK that doesn't really work.

This other culture-war stuff is (mostly) a distraction.

I did algebra in a Johns Hopkins summer school program between 7th and 8th grade. Then did geometry in 8th grade. I was never as strong at math after that and always regretted it.

That explains your stock market and election predictions.

He says to the guy who spent a career in Finance Departments and is on track to retire at 53 and live off investments and with no pension

Tell us about your Porsche next. There's another guy who does that on this board and its super impressive. No one thinks its gauche or insecure to make claims like that.

Congrats on your early retirement. No doubt Trump's booming stock market has been a real benefit to you on that front.

Sorry to let the reality of my life get in the way of your attempts at insult. Trump's stock market did help thanks to QE almost doubling from about little over $4 trillion to a little under $8 trillion during his first term

I've never spent more than $48k on a car.

Ummm... the S&P 500 was +55% under Joe Biden.
But given your inherent bias you'd probably never admit that.

The S&P is currently + 7% under the Orange Buffoon with roughly 3.5 years to go.

Just the Facts.

My work recently sent me into MAGA country. We have a travel ban but my bosses have chosen a small group to meet in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. Beautiful place.

So I'm watching the family on the 2nd floor balcony (I'm on the 3rd floor) throwing food down to a mama bear and two cubs. Something I learned as a child was bad to do for the animals and the nearby people. But there's dad throwing food down with mom taking pictures and the teenage kids laughing it up. I caught them on quick video and sent it to my wife then went back inside.

10 minutes later I hear banging so I go back out. They stopped feeding the bears so the bear was banging on an air conditioning condenser for more food. The bear eventually knocked it completely over.

At this point I'm annoyed and go to the lobby and tell a manager they've got a knocked over condenser because these people are throwing food to the bears. Manager thought it was funny. "Oh wow. Thats crazy, haha. Hope your a/c is working haha".

These are the morons running our country

Covid lockdowns wrecked the stock market at the end of Trump's first term.
But given your inherent bias you'd probably never admit that.
Just the facts.

Trump's tariffs are ruining the economy and sending inflation higher. As a result, interest rates will remain high, causing the Orange Buffoon to have repeated temper tantrums.

But given your inherent bias you'd probably never admit that.

Trump's tariffs do appear to be having a negative effect on the economy and sending inflation higher, albeit not to the degree you post. However, I am keeping my eyes and ears open, and my investments have generally moved to conservative ones

QE (the Fed balance sheet) decreased about half-trillion during the Biden Presidency
