They are too busy suing schools for graduation invocations to be going to door to door. The only 'immorality' of an atheist that bothers me is their hell bent passion to stop other people from expression belief in a God. A TRUE atheist is an activist, you can't have an activist as a coach.
In case you didn't figure it out, I'm an atheist. I'm just curious. Is there an atheist bible I missed out on, because you seem to be aware of some required doctrinal rules to being atheist that I missed out on.
You know why I'm atheist? Because I was raised without religion. I use science and philosophy to explain my universe because that was the worldview I was exposed to. Within that worldview, I don't see the evidence for god. Therefore, I don't believe in a god. Others believe in god. That is okay by me. I've read the whole bible. Philosophically, I find the concept of Jesus interesting and moving and I respect the appeal of Christianity.
I don't care if you say "under god" in the pledge and I scoff at the very small percentage of militant atheists who make an issue out of it. I think it is ridiculous that my kids specifically don't sing Christmas songs in school. I generally go out of my way to not change people's religious beliefs.
Also, my wife is Christian. My children are Christian. Baptized and everything with my wholehearted approval. A baptism, by the way, that was well attended by my atheist family. I attend church with my wife and kids. I teach my kids to respect that teaching. (On the extremely rare occasion that intolerance comes across their path, I will point out it is not what our family believes in, though my wife will usually beat me to the punch.) In fact, my kids just recently became aware that I was not Christian because my wife let it slip, thinking they already knew. Such is the level of my quest to eradicate religion from our society.
I'm an atheist. Neither proud nor ashamed. You don't get to define what it means to be atheist. Being an atheist is not about hate. I don't care what religion you practice and I'm sure there are plenty of great people within your religion. I'd even guess you are one of them. But what you've said tonight is deeply offensive and if it makes me an angry ole atheist to say that, so be it.
