Cool video, though quite a bit of it seemed staged to me. Either that or pedestrians had little in the way of self preservation back then. Also nice to see what BART looked like back in the 1940s, before we rebuilt it at hideous expense in the early 1970s.

There are more and more of these old films being restored and posted, including a famous Trip Down Market Street days before the 1906 earthquake.
I enjoy watching and considering how society has changed.
Not only have buildings changed, transportation methods, and clothing styles, but cultural beliefs, norms, and understanding of our place in the universe.
Reflecting on the past helps me know myself and what matters. I place my parents, grandparents in certain scenes. Like, the bay bridge train lanes, or the

Key system trolley in the east bay… I'd always heard my grandfather talk about, but here I get to see how it was.

I think in the future we'll have VTOL's, vertical take off and landing, vehicles, and things will become vastly different again.

In 1900, there were no cars.
In 2000, the skies were empty.
In 2100, the skies will be filled and people will not only never see the stars, but they won't ever see a virgin sky.

Say, that could be the title for a science fiction book! I just thought of that.
Maybe Unbroken Sky is a better phrase. Hmmm.
