It is one thing to get an agreement in the Middle East, it is quite another to get it to hold for years. I have yet to see it happen. And I doubt it will hold, too many variables, not to mention the pompous ass and administration taking credit for basically something that was already done.

Good morning

The Straight of Hormuz is closed. The Art of the Deal. Still a mystery why anyone would care what Donald Trump says.

It is now not open because we are still blockading Iranian ports. We are blockading Iranian ports because, despite what liberal outlets are saying, it is working to pressure Iran to accept a reasonable deal.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Is this what "Gunther Eagleman", "Amuse" or other astroturfed Trump cult slop told you?

Because that doesn't jibe with reality:

There are NO USN ships in that picture above, they would be too vulnerable to drone, missile and torpedo attacks. The Trump Blockade of the Blockade is further out in the Gulf of Oman.

Iran is keeping the Strait closed because we are still blockading them. Nothing in your slop post refutes what I posted above.

There are no USN ships in the Strait or the Persian Gulf, and we're not bombing Iranian ports.

So how exactly are we "blockading Iranian ports"?

The UK has had a long string of mediocre PMs lately, when Liz Truss was nominated, a tabloid bet that a head of lettuce would last longer than Truss as a PM:

The lettuce did outlast her.

I would propose a similar challenge for Trump's grand decrees on the Iran war, but would use instead something a lot more perishable, like raw fish or a sushi tray. The sushi tray will have outlasted all of Trump's pump and dump weekend grandstandings...

People and the markets believed Trump and fell for it because the Iranians would willingly trade their enriched uranium for a permanent peace with their sanctions lifted and Hormuz toll scheme to rebuild their infrastructure. So a settlement is not something that would be out of the ordinary.

The main problem is that Israel doesn't want that, they want to annex southern Lebanon and see Iran turned into a failed state. Trump can't rein Israel in, whether because his donors don't want, or he is compromised.

The UAE has had a very nefarious role in the Sudan and Libyan civil wars, they haven't always put their oil wealth to good use.

AI oversiew
Role in the Sudanese Civil War (2023Present)
The UAE is widely accused of being the primary external backer of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), led by Hemedti, in their conflict against the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF).

  • Weapons Smuggling: A leaked UN report indicated that weapons were supplied to the RSF via flights from Abu Dhabi to Chad, and subsequently into Darfur.
  • Military Equipment: The RSF has been supplied with advanced weaponry, including Chinese-made drones, howitzers, and armored vehicles (e.g., Panther T6 and Tygra models).
  • Strategic Interests: The UAE's involvement is likely aimed at controlling Sudan's gold tradewith significant amounts of gold smuggled to Dubaiand gaining influence over Red Sea shipping routes, while opposing Islamist influences in the SAF.
  • Atrocities Allegations: The RSF has been accused of genocide and ethnic cleansing in Darfur, with evidence suggesting UAE-supplied weapons enabled these actions.
I would also argue that had Iran not developed its highly effective missile and drone programs, their country would have been overrun and colonized by now, just as it was when the US/UK overthrew their democratically elected president Mossadegh who nationalized their oil resources.

The UAE should follow Qatar's lead and work towards a modus vivendi with Iran instead of pushing for escalation, and cut their involvement in the Sudanese genocide and Libyan civil war.

(On a more trivial side note, watching Manchester City - Arsenal this morning, I wonder what is going to happen with the European clubs the UAE and other GCC countries purchased, perhaps the old order will be restored with these countries pulling the plug on their European vanity purchases. )
