Strangely enough, there still has not been any explanation of the IMMINENT THREAT from IRAN that was the basis for this War.

Was there an imminent threat to the US in Lybia when Obama took out Qaddafi?

Trump campaigned against these terrible wars of choice, then pulled the biggest one yet!

Now the moderator of this site is spreading lies from Russian propaganda that began around the 2016 election.

Obama did not take out Qaddaffi. The Libyan rebels did. Obama conducted a limited bombing campaign in an ongoing civil war to stop Qaddaffi from massacering the rebels. Libya started the war and ended the war.

President Trump said on Tuesday that officials the United States had eyed as potential new leaders of Iran had been killed in the U.S.-Israeli bombing campaign. As the war in the Middle East widened, he said that the worst outcome would be that whoever takes over Iran could be "as bad" as their predecessors.

Note to staff: " Guys, nobody will want this job if we keep killing them."

Who armed, trained, funded, and supported these rebels.

Those are bipartisan regime change operations. conducted across several administrations with both parties.

Libya was on the list of the 7 countries to invade/regime change presented by General Wesley Clark back in 2002, they only got to Libya a decade later, and the last item on the list, Iran, just now.

I would be willing to offer you an answer about how Obama didn't take out Qaddafi.
But the fact that you have refused to respond to my suggestion of a daily post limit gives me pause.

Yup, I saw that earlier this morning.

Mike Huckabee, our U.S. Ambassador to Israel said that the best way to evacuate is "utilizing Israel's Ministry of Tourism shuttle bus to Taba, Egypt."

A shuttle bus.

Congratulations for ignoring the obvious meaning of my post so that you could call me a liar while simultaneously ignoring the actual point.

In reverse orderโ€ฆ
My post was a response to the claim that Trump did not have an underlying immediate threat against the US as a predicate to justify use of force. I was pointing out the obvious - many presidents on both sides of the isle have acted similarly. I made the point by referencing Obama's actions in Libya.

You are correct that I said "Qaddafi"โ€ฆbut anyone with any knowledge of history, common sense or access to Wikipedia knows the attack was against Qaddafi's forces and in support of the rebels; in supporting the rebels in this way the US contributed to and enabled Qaddafi's downfall and ultimate murder. (The predicate for what Obama has called the worst mistake of his presidency).

BTW, were you lying when you characterized the bombing as "limited?" It lasted 8 months, included 26,500 sorties and some 7,000 bombs.

The only thing that Trump has offered was that there was a "feeling" that an imminent attack was about to commence.

Rubio has pretty much answered that question, Israel was going to attack and forced the Trump administration's hand.

It's literally the equivalent of saying "I knew that guy was a threat because I knew he'd shoot back after getting shot by my friend."

Rubio calls striking Iran in that context "going proactively in a defensive way", which has got to be one of the most Orwellian sentences ever uttered by a Secretary of State.

Any normal can see that what this actually means was that those under "imminent threat" were actually Iran. Rubio just admitted very clearly that Iran was the victim here."

Agreed.

Follow the bouncing ball.
Not about nukes, not about regime change. It's about a build-up of ballistic missiles.

"Rubio said the US military operation against Iran is meant "to eliminate the threat of Iran's short range ballistic missiles and the threat posed by their Navy, particularly to naval assets." "That is the clear objective of this mission," Rubio said, despite statements from President Donald Trump indicating that the operation was also tied to regime change in Iran."

Marco Rubio says US strikes in Iran aim to 'eliminate' its short-range ballistic missiles

The shifting objectives gives Trump an off ramp.

He can say he took out the Ayatollah, obliterated their nuclear and missile capability and end this in days. ( The fact it isn't true has no consequence)

Have you respected my request to stop sending me direct messages complaining about your treatment, other people's behavior or how the board operates? Since you will not stop sending these messages I am simply choosing to ignore them; do not expect responses.

This is so obvious that an answer should not be necessary:
1. I am a volunteer, not the owner of the site that makes such decisions. But if I did have that authority my answer would be No.
2. My guess is there are like 2-4 people on the entire site who routinely post more than 10 times a day. You are one of them. You have the absolute and complete autonomy to post less than 10 times a day all by yourself, without a rule being necessary which potentially impacts all other members. I will say it more plainly: YOU AND A COUPLE OF OTHER MEMBERS ARE THE PROBLEM. MAKE THE CHOICE TO CHANGE YOUR BEHAVIOR; THE IGNORE FEATURE IS YOUR FRIEND.

In answer to your question:

Looking through my Inbox, I've received messages from you on 2/24, 1/31, 1/20, and 1/10.
None of them had anything to do with a request to stop sending you DM's.

In fact, you were replying to concerns and questions that I had.
And you answered them in a respectful and professional manner as Moderator.

Your request from late last year to stop sending you DM's was on 12/28.
That was when you told me to use the ignore feature.

Everything since has been quite different.

You are characterizing all NATO activity as U.S. Yes, it was limited for the U.S.

Quote:

The initial phase, codenamed Operation Odyssey Dawn, was US-led and lasted from March 19 to March 31, 2011. It began with a barrage of approximately 110 Tomahawk cruise missiles targeting Gaddafi's air defense systems, establishing the no-fly zone. The goal was to degrade the regime's capability to attack civilians from the air. Command and control formally transferred to NATO on March 31, 2011, renaming the mission Operation Unified Protector. US forces shifted to a supporting role, providing specialized assets like aerial refueling and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR).

The Obama Libya Intervention: Legal Authority and Execution - LegalClarity

Furthermore, Obama believed the intervention into the pre-existing war was the right choice because it prevented a massacre. His mistake was the lack of planning for afterwards.

Any indication that we jumped into Libya to "take out" Qadaffi without context is Russian propaganda.

If I'm not mistaken, Operation Odyssey Dawn commenced on March 19th, 2011 and ending two weeks later on March 28, 2011, when the US handed over command to NATO as Operation Unified Protector.

During that period, I believe the U.S. started with 4 - 5 sorties per day and ramped up to 10 - 15 per day.

Roughly 1,000 US munitions were dropped on Libya during that short period, including 221 cruise missiles.
