We are really, really screwed.

Typical oligarch move, extracting wealth from US consumers. People hate on Xi and Putin, but the first thing they did months ago when this crisis flared up was to ban the export of refined petroleum products in order to shield their people from economic damage.

So it's Russia and China who are selfishly prioritizing domestic needs over global market stability, worsening shortages and driving up prices for everyone else?

The most selfish and reckless thing here, which seems to have escaped you, was STARTING THIS WAR OF CHOICE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Leaders who place their people's interests over short term profits aren't exactly selfish.

War of Choice or War of Necessary Prevention?

Do we wait until Iran becomes a nuclear state and exports dirty bombs to its terrorist friends to attack our bases, allies, and homeland before we call it a War of Necessity?

It's interesting to see how the reaction to Trump depleting our SPR by 172 million barrels and down to just 34% of capacity from MAGA pales in comparison to when Biden released oil from the SPR.

There's been no outcry from MAGA since Trump has depleted our reserves.

Sounds hypocritical.

Biden was criticized for easing pain due to his own war on fossil fuels and ban on Russian imports.

And Trump drained the SPR for his war of CHOICE.
So much for having obliterated Iran's nuclear ambitions last June.

Got it.

And Obama made the CHOICE to allow Iran to import uranium from Russia and to release monetary assets back to them.

Since then, Iran has blocked IAEA inspectors, threatened and attacked its neighbors, and destabilized the region.

What kind of "deal" will Trump wind up negotiating with IRAN?

Another JCPOA?

The one that Trump ripped up.
Got it.

Trump CHOSE to scrap the JCPOA, which prevented Iran from having nukes. He did it because he who**d himself to Adelson in 2015, competing against other GOP sellouts for Adelson's millions.

Also the narrative of Iran exporting nukes to terrorists is pretty dumb, the kind of crap only Fox boomers still buy.

Trump today after having thrown the US in a disastrous war of choice is going to try hard to get what Obama got, after blowing up the global economy, killing thousands of innocent people and delivering economic control to Iran over the transit of oil through the Persian Gulf.

The JCPOA only delayed, rather than prevent Iran's nuclear weapons path. The deal included "sunset provisions" (time limits on key restrictions after 10-15 years), allowing Iran to resume enrichment and preserving nuclear infrastructure.

The JCPOA also failed to constrain Iran's ballistic missile program and their support for proxies/terrorism. Sanctions relief (billions in unfrozen assets and oil revenue) funded these efforts instead of curbing them.

Iran's behavior since 2015 since JCPOA was implemented speaks for itself.

The JCPOA could have been easily EXTENDED - duh.

Iran is never going to agree to scrap their missile program, because it is their only tool for dissuasion given that they have no nukes. Complete non-starter.

The proxies are Hezbollah in Lebanon, are only labeled as terrorists because they oppose Israel's long-planned lebensraum goal of annexing parts of Lebanon, whose resources and territory they covet.

Not sure how this aligns with the US blockade. It would appear to strengthen Iran's position and weaken the US's position.

Meh, oil is a fungible commodity. That oil would have been sold to someone else.

That's probably why the Chinese are buying oil instead of more Boeings.
