Based on the above, I'm thinkin' a phone call took place last night that went something like this:

Trump: "Hey, you did a great job in the hearing yesterday, almost as good a job as I would have done, discrediting that midget egomaniac."

Dead Squirrel on Head Boy: "Thank you, Sir. Like Cliff Booth says, I try."

Trump: "Now I need you to back off."

Dead Squirrel on Head Boy: "Why, Sir?"

Trump: "Because I don't need anyone testing the insulation provided by a Presidential pardon…..and remember, you are probably going to need a pardon yourself one day."

Dead Squirrel on Head Boy: "Understood, Boss. Consider the matter closed."

Okay, here's something I can glom onto.
This "thought" that maybe some researchers were working on this in a lab and it leaked…. So far as I know, it remains merely a possibility, yes?

If so, I think attacking Fauci as if he's some criminal for not proceeding as if it's fact is ridiculous.

But go on, educate me. With facts, please.

If you are going to purposely stay ignorant, why opine in the matter? As stated here hundreds of times, Fauci discredited efforts to bring to light the lab leak origin.

Wow!
We don't support attacking Fauci and lab leak theories, so therefore we are "far left" and we believe that men can get pregnant, defunding the police, and that Fauci is a "God".

This is why we don't care to debate with you. I mean, talk about extremism! This is ridiculous on your part.

I think the Fauci hearings accomplishes something else in addition to the war/epstein/economy/election distraction,

It sends another message to ANYONE who gets on trumps wrong side that the posse will all go after you.

This sums it up well but many of you are too busy bowing at the alter of the golden calf.

"Like most people, I started out believing that Fauci and other top health officials were just doing their best in a chaotic situation. I no longer think that. I explain why in my @WSJFreeEx column today.

We now know Fauci conspired with colleagues to suppress and demonize any discussion of the lab leak question. His team stonewalled inquiries into the relationship between US scientists, funded by his agency, and the Wuhan lab. They intimidated skeptical scientists into keeping their mouths shut. They leaned on social media companies to suppress fair-mind questions.

That's a scandal even if we someday learn that the virus did not leak from the lab."

1. This is heritage foundation. They are a joke.

2. They have no Deny Cookies button, in violation of California state law, I believe. So now they are apparently tracking me. Thanks.

3. So I now understand that this angle pays zero attention to Fauci's response to:
"oh, crap, there's a killer virus out there, what should we do?!?!"

Instead, this axe to grind is all about:
"oh, crap, there's a killer virus out there, where did it come from?!?!"

And more specifically, this angle is pissed that one particular possible answer wasn't followed more vigorously.

Is this correct?

Again, you want to purposely stay ignorant so you can argue against something that isn't true and ignore the facts presented.

"Through its investigation, the select subcommittee has learned that Dr. Fauci and NIH exerted more influence over the conference call than previously disclosed. Further, by the end of the Feb. 1 conference call, Dr. Fauci had suggested the drafting of a paper regarding the potential of a lab leak to Dr. [Kristian] Andersen twice. This suggestion was what 'prompted' Dr. Andersen to draft 'Proximal Origin."

"So, the authors revised their paper, adding language that the lab origin was implausible, and successfully submitted it to Nature Medicine, part of the Nature portfolio of journals. The finished producttitled "The Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2"was published in Nature Medicine on March 17, 2020.

The Nature Medicine article, according to the subcommittee report, "is one of the single most impactful and influential scientific papers in history, and it expressed conclusions that were not based on sound science nor in fact, but instead on assumptions."

I and others have issues with many others Fauci's directives. Here, we are focusing on his immoral discrediting of the lab leak theory. Please respect that this is what we are discussing and not the other things you inject into nearly every topic.

The children will never acknowledge the truth because they will die of shame.

Calling members of this board children, as you've done at least 3 times in this thread, would appear to violate rule #1 and possibly rule #4 of the Off Topic forum.

I was quite absorbed with the pandemic for about a year and a half, starting with whenever Cal88 started posting his updates with the British guy, through when everybody could get vaxxed...

What I recall about the "origins" was that we chose to overlook the considerable circumstantial evidence that indicated lab-leak because people were maybe gonna start blaming Americans of Chinese descent (and in fact, all Asians). The Japanese internment camps during WWII were being referenced as an example of what happens when a society, out of fear, jumps to conclusions.

As I look back now, sure, mistakes were made. It happens. I think about as many mistakes were made on one side as on the other (degree of societal restriction). We were flying by the seat of our pants.

Fair enough but no reason for the origins of a worldwide pandemic to be a political issue or a coverup. Fauci is a bureaucrat not a Saint and Trump could have fired him but didn't . And why would anyone be interested in protecting collusion between the US government and PRC….unless.

I actually think it's probably still more likely that it was a zoonotic origin, but . . . it was wrong to act like the lab origin theory was completely out of bounds. It's still possibly true.

No he isn't, under the reasonable definition of smart.

Trump's success is not due to his intellect:

Trump won the presidency twice because of his unique populist appeal and media savvy that traditional politicians lacked.

However, he could not have won or governed effectively without aligning with, and being heavily backed by, the pre-existing institutional machinery of the conservative legal movement (the Federalist Society) and, later, a powerful network of wealthy right-leaning donors and tech magnates who saw him as a useful instrument for their own goals.
[Edited AI response to my prompt….and accurate as f@uck]

*Remember, Trump thinks Stephen Miller and Jared Kushner are really smart guys.

*Trump's idiocy is on full display in his micromanaging of his vanity projects:

1. The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool;

2. The White House Ballroom;

3. The proposed Triumphal Arch;

4. The Kennedy Center takeover and renovation;

5. The Boeing 747-8 luxury jet gifted to the United States by the government of Qatar that was serving as a temporary/interim Air Force One until they figured out it needs $1B in renovations to be made safe.

As you can see, when Trump goes hands on he goes down the Trump Casinos, Trump Steaks, Trump Water, Trump Airlines, and Trump University tits up rabbit hole.

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said Trump had the understanding of "a fifth- or sixth-grader."

White House chief of staff John Kelly called Trump "an idiot" and said he thought the president was "unhinged."

Both Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and former chief of staff Reince Priebus called Trump an "idiot."

Former economic adviser Gary Cohn said Trump was "dumb as sh@it," and former national security adviser H.R. McMaster said the president was a "dope."

Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon said in November 2017 that Trump was "like an 11-year-old child."

Former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in July 2017 called Trump a "moron."

One thing is certain: Trump is a lot smarter than this glee club of losers, all of whom thought they could change him and were fired or resigned

*Remember, Trump thinks Stephen Miller and Jared Kushner are really smart guys.

*Trump's idiocy is on full display in his micromanaging of his vanity projects:

1. The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool;

2. The White House Ballroom;

3. The proposed Triumphal Arch;

4. The Kennedy Center takeover and renovation;

Trump got elected President twice, defeating a sitting Vice President and an ex Secretary State both establishment figures. Now, you can argue that both of them were dumb as fence posts but this doesn't exactly bolster your argument .

In doing so he put together a unique coalition of Hispanics, working class, rural people, immigrants and billionaires. He is the most consequential President since Reagan-for better or worse like it or not. He definitely has political smarts, way more than those idiot functionaries you quoted above, none of whom could be elected as a dog magistrate.

And the reflecting pool, ballroom etc, etc, is Trump being Trump- it is silly and dumb and late night tv fodder for liberals but nobody cares, just like they didn't care that he was impeached or indicted. Arguing Trump is dumb is just liberal blue washing saying "we are smart, see". But it's actually a lot dumber than Trump because it fails to analyze why they lost

Biden was a dolt the best day he ever had. HRC is intelligent. Criticize away in other areas

In doing so he put together a unique coalition of Hispanics, working class, rural people, immigrants and billionaires.

It's for worse and I don't like it.

He definitely has political smarts, way more than those idiot functionaries you quoted above, none of whom could be elected as a dog magistrate.
Getting elected doesn't prove you are smart and not being electable doesn't mean you are not smart.

And the reflecting pool, ballroom etc, etc, is Trump being Trump- it is silly and dumb and late night tv fodder for liberals but nobody cares, just like they didn't care that he was impeached or indicted.
When a POTUS displays poor judgment in multiple matters with little or no national or international consequence, people should be concerned about his judgment in matters of significant consequence.

Arguing Trump is dumb is just liberal blue washing saying "we are smart, see". But it's actually a lot dumber than Trump because it fails to analyze why they lost
Yogi seemed to be casting aspersions on Obama for commenting on Trump's lack of intelligence. The purpose of my post was to show that several people that worked for Trump share Obama's assessment. The fact that Trump is not smart doesn't seem to have any impact on the fact that he is a MAGA horse whisperer that has the Republican Party and the country by the balls, is tugging hard, and making billions in Pay for Play dollars in the process. So you get to claim all that cool stuff about Trump, you just won't convince anyone reasonable that intelligence is in Trump's tool box.

I actually think it's probably still more likely that it was a zoonotic origin
