Honestly this was the dumbest part of the rant:

"Now, you can't talk about the COVID stuff because obviously it was made in a lab in China. That's like not even questionable anymore."

It's now an article of faith for some people that COVID came from the lab. There is no real proof of that.

There is real proof that it came from a lab.

Oh? Do tell.

You just have to open your eyes.

Oh you're referring me back to the other thread in which I already participated. Not sure why you would expect this to be convincing to me.

None of this is proof. It's some people having issued opinions that they think the lab leak was more likely and those opinions being suppressed (which is bad), but it's not evidence that the virus actually originated there.

Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers now says that it's not even arguable that the virus came from a lab. That's dumb.

There is plenty of evidence that the virus originated there. Maybe read the thread again?

Literally, the very first sentence of the link I posted states,

"The Farrar phone call was different. The people on the phone felt that the mutations around the furin cleavage site of the spike protein could not have occurred naturally since it would require an evolutionary jump that they found nowhere in bat isolates."

Since it is so damn obvious, just read the thread again. You clearly missed a lot of things.

Also in the thread.

Who was the CEO of the French Company that designed the Level 4 Wuhan Lab that leaked Covid 19?

Stephen Bancel

Question 2:

What coronavirus research Company did he then become the CEO of in 2011, during construction of the Wuhan Level 4 Lab?

Moderna

Question 3:

What biotech fund was the main investor in that coronavirus company?

Flagship Pioneering

Question 4:

What was the name of the FDA head who greenlighted the first coronavirus vaccines and, against the wishes of his chief vaccine head, greenlighted them for use on children, leading his chief to resign?

Stephen Hahn

Question 5:

What biotech fund then hired that now ex FDA head and made them rich?

Flagship Pioneering

Question 6:

What is the net worth of the CEO in the answer of question #1?

2-4 Billion, 99% earned as head of Moderna, who got their COVID EUA in December 2020, only one week after Pfizer. Pfizer and Moderna would then basically have a monopoly on Covid vaccines, earning Bancel billions.

How far was the Wuhan Lab from the wet market that, in Fauci's words, amplified the virus?

7 miles.

Here's more...

COVID 19 welcome from a lab.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/lab-leak-true-origins-of-covid-19/

The virus possesses a biological characteristic that is not found in nature.

Data shows that all COVID-19 cases stem from a single introduction into humans. This runs contrary to previous pandemics where there were multiple spillover events.

Wuhan is home to China's foremost SARS research lab, designed by Moderna CEO Stephen Bancel's company, which has a history of conducting gain-of-function research (gene altering and organism supercharging) at inadequate biosafety levels.

Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) researchers were sick with COVID-like symptoms in the fall of 2019, months before COVID-19 was discovered at the wet market.

By nearly all measures of science, if there was evidence of a natural origin it would have already surfaced. But it hasn't.

Follow the science, not stupid Democrats and pardoned scientists covering their asses.

This is not evidence of a lab origin, it is pure speculation based on guilt by association.

The White House is not a trustworthy source for what "the science" says. You're basically quoting RFK Jr. at me here.

The great majority of actual scientific studies performed on the actual virus suggest a natural origin as the most likely source, but this is not completely confirmed.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Origin_of_SARS-CoV-2

I don't think it's crazy to believe that it might have come from a lab, it's possible. To say, as Aaron Rodgers did, that it is basically decided and no one can question that anymore is insane.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Origin_of_SARS-CoV-2

I don't think it's crazy to believe that it might have come from a lab, it's possible. To say, as Aaron Rodgers did, that it is basically decided and no one can question that anymore is insane.

I gave you plenty of evidence that the virus originated at the Wuhan Lab to counter your assertion that "There is no real proof" that it came from the lab. Perhaps you were incorrectly exaggerating your position to make one of our most famous alums look like a fool?

Are you seriously arguing that a claim is true simply because it appears on the White House website? Government websites can present official positions, but they're not substitutes for scientific evidence or the peer-reviewed literature.

I won't be doing that. Point out the arguments you find most convincing.

Literally, the very first sentence of the link I posted states,

Since it is so damn obvious, just read the thread again. You clearly missed a lot of things.

So as I said, some people held an opinion (early on) that the lab origin was more likely. Okay.

I think Rodgers is doing a good enough job of acting the fool on his own.

Also, I don't think you have given me any "real proof." So far I have seen:

1. Some early opinions from people who were texting with Dr. Fauci before any real study had been done on the virus, opinions that are contradicted by further studies that have been done in the intervening years.

2. Speculation based on Wuhan having a lab in it that may have done gain-of-function research, but no actual clear link to the virus.

3. Donald Trump's political position on the matter.

So I stand by that statement.

The article in no way rules out the lab leak theory. Are you ready to acknowledge that proof indeed exists that corroborates the lab leak theory? I agree that the evidence as we know, especially with much of it being purposely withheld by US contractors and the Chinese, neither rules out the lab leak theory nor the natural origins theory.

Follow the science, not stupid Democrats and pardoned scientists covering their asses.

I gave you plenty of evidence that the virus originated at the Wuhan Lab to counter your assertion that "There is no real proof" that it came from the lab. Perhaps you were incorrectly exaggerating your position to make one of our most famous alums look like a fool?

I think Rodgers is doing a good enough job of acting the fool on his own.

Also, I don't think you have given me any "real proof." So far I have seen:

1. Some early opinions from people who were texting with Dr. Fauci before any real study had been done on the virus, opinions that are contradicted by further studies that have been done in the intervening years.

2. Speculation based on Wuhan having a lab in it that may have done gain-of-function research, but no actual clear link to the virus.

3. Donald Trump's political position on the matter.

So I stand by that statement.

There is a crap ton of circumstantial evidence. You just have to open your eyes.

No, because I object to calling it "proof." You want to call it "circumstantial evidence?" Fine.

It takes a lot of faith to ignore the logical conclusion that COVID originated in the Wuhan Lab when

1) The Moderna CEO ran the company designing the Wuhan Level 4 Lab;

2) Moderna, partnered with the NIH, was already studying vaccines on coronaviruses and was first to test a COVID 19 vaccine;

3) The wet market, where COVID 19 first spread, is 7 miles away from the Wuhan Lab;

4) The Wuhan Lab was doing gain of function research on coronaviruses in bats, apparently using NIH grant money through a third party; and

5) The prevailing natural origin theory is that COVID 19, a coronavirus, was spread to humans from a bat.

Aaron Rodgers was just using his brain, which has also helped him have the best NFL QBR rating of all time.

I won't be doing that. Point out the arguments you find most convincing.

Literally, the very first sentence of the link I posted states,

"The Farrar phone call was different. The people on the phone felt that the mutations around the furin cleavage site of the spike protein could not have occurred naturally since it would require an evolutionary jump that they found nowhere in bat isolates."

Since it is so damn obvious, just read the thread again. You clearly missed a lot of things.

So as I said, some people held an opinion (early on) that the lab origin was more likely. Okay.

I said that there was no proof that COVID came from a lab and that is, in fact, a true statement. There is some circumstantial evidence, which is not proof. Friendly reminder that this was the statement from Rodgers that I was mocking:

"Now, you can't talk about the COVID stuff because obviously it was made in a lab in China. That's like not even questionable anymore."

Some people complained that Fauci and other people treated the natural-origin theory like it was conclusively proven and that the lab-leak theory was impossible. That's true. I agree with you that this was wrong. Aaron Rodgers is now doing the same thing from the other side and I am mocking him for that as well, just as you like to mock Fauci. I don't think that's out of bounds at all, but apparently you do. The lab-leak theory is now an article of faith for some of you folks.

You said "There is no proof." Let's just pretend that you simply said the lab leak theory has not been proven and move on.

But "there is no proof" is a correct statement

In that case, this is also a correct statement:

There is NO PROOF that Fauci is a good person and not a child molester.

I agree there's no proof he's a good person. That's a hard thing to prove.

For a serious accusation like "child molester" I would say the burden of proof is on the person making the claim that he is, rather than that he isn't. You know, sort of like people who claim COVID was leaked from a lab.

There is no proof that you are even a human being.

Another extraordinary claim for which the burden of proof would be on you.

In 2026, it is ridiculous to think that covid was not engineered from gain of function research. The only dispute is from the medical research establishment in a basic conflict of interest situation where they won't bit the hand that feeds them or undermine their research activities.

Furthermore a lot of the gain of function research is controversial, unethical, highly hazardous and potentially illegal, and that was one of the main reasons coronavirus gain of function research conducted in places like Fort Detrick MD, UNC (see below) or Winnipeg, Canada was outsourced to China.

Quote:

Alleging a "pattern of deception" in virus studies done more than a decade ago, the U.S. government has proposed a ban on federal funding to a prominent coronavirus researcher whose more recent work has incited unproven accusations that he helped start the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has already suspended Ralph Baric, a tenured professor at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill and a member of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), from receiving further money for his virology studies. Now, it has begun formal debarment proceedings, which could cut off his funding for 3 years or more. As Science finalized this story, UNC announced that Baric, 72, was retiring, but he told Science he plans to appeal the recommended debarment, likely with legal help from the school.

Baric received details of the allegations in a 7 May email from HHS, one of several documents he shared with Science. HHS accuses him of deception in communications with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), which has provided his lab and collaborators with awards that total more than $200 million over the past 40 years.

Most of the charges center on mouse experiments done with bat coronaviruses in 2014, which HHS contends created a virus that had a "gain of function" (GOF), becoming more dangerous and potentially posing serious risks to human health. On an unrelated charge, HHS says Baric was "not forthcoming" about a 2017 grant from the Wellcome Trust, a private biomedical funder, that the department says overlapped with one he received from NIAID and should have been declared to the agency.

There is no dount that gain of function research on the coronavirus was conducted in American labs well before the Wuhan outbreak, as well that research was tied with the work done in China.
