I was lucky . Saw The Stranglers in either '84, '85 or '86, at the Warfield. One of the best shows I've seen. Lot of great music at the Warfield back then. Peter Gabriel in his early solo years also. Even saw the Pistols last show when I was but a teenager late '70's. Music is a huge part of my life, although I don't play an instrument. I do host a show on a legit radio station in Northeast Michigan for 1 hour once a week on Friday afternoons. You can stream us free at 979harrisville.org.

I think that concert must have fallen during finals week or Summer/Winter break, otherwise I would have been there for sure...

I also had a regular radio DJ gig for about 10 years in the 2000s, and occasional live vinyl sets at the local hipster joint, up to the covid shutdown, music is a big part of my life as well.

Here's another good one from the Stranglers:

It's All over Now Baby Blue - Marianne Faithfull song written by Bob Dylan film: The Girl on a Motorcycle (1968)

*I always thought Steve Marriott had real style and swagger.

Van Morrison is great on that version from Them, awesome song and arrangement, really suits his style.

This is my favorite version of this song, from Chocolate Watchband (band from Los Altos), it is clearly based on the version from Them, with the main riff rendered with a xylophone:

Pattie Boyd is auctioning off this original album cover art from Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs through Christie's London. It is estimated to fetch between $51-$76K.

Question: Will Eric Clapton bid on it?

Thanks for posting, prospeCt. Good read. Your mission tomorrow, should you decide to accept it is:

1. Watch this movie:

2. Listen to this song:

3. And drink this beer:

Me at the Dingle Peninsula, Southwest, Ireland, July, 1976:

I watched this documentary:

Travelin' Band: Creedence Clearwater Revival at the Royal Albert Hall (2022) - IMDb

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt21053478/

The last part of it they show CCR's 12 song set at the Royal Albert Hall, London, 1970.
I had no idea how ferocious they were live.
John Fogarty was a force of nature.
Growing up CCR was constantly on Top 40 (from 1969-1971 because they had 14 consecutive Top 10 singles). They were local, and we all liked them, but we never considered them cool like Cream, the Stones The Who and Led Zep. Later generations only became aware of them because they are on the soundtrack of every Vietnam War movie.

Below is just audio of the performance. Wow!

*It is almost hard to believe this is a live performance and not a record. I saw a lot of concerts. I have no memory of seeing a band tighter than CCR was that night. They were "On."

From 1967, when the Stones copied Ray Davies and the Kinks British music hall vaudeville style and sound:

When once upon a time, the Stones were a Blues band, under bandleader, Brian Jones (1964):

^ RIP Brian Jones, my favorite Stones album is Their Majesties', which bears his signature.

Nice capsule on the turbulent life and times of Roky Erickson, trailblazer from Austin, TX, perhaps the most influential (and underrated) figure from the mid/late 1960s American psychedelic rock scene:

Some of my favorite tracks from the Elevators:
