In China, you can't express an opposing viewpoint from the government without being silenced and stoned to death. No true freedom of expression and the ability to raise dissent.
Communist lovers like Berkeley alums and Bernie have finally succeeded in turning the U.S. into a communist country. Only they've used the rage mob to silence any dissent. Want to express a dissenting opinion? "How dare you, you'll kill my grandma?" (see covid lockdown). Want to ask legitimate policy questions? "You're racist for asking these questions" (see Floyd protest). Want to show basic facts? "I deny your facts because it doesn't fit with my dogma!"
During these tough times, someone needs to stand up to the rage mob. Someone needs to stand up and prevent the rage mob and their tanks from taking all our freedoms. Someone needs to be the tank guy. If it's me, then so be it.

China Decries U.S. Human Rights Abuseson Anniversary of Tiananmen Square Massacre
The article didn't mention that Chinese students wanted freedom from their government while American looters wanted a head start on their Christmas shopping.
right OaktownBearHanky1. "China Undercover" PBS Frontline 1hr documentary came out a few weeks ago. Not only are a major ethnic group being vacuumed into vast brutal concentration so-called re-education camps, but the techniques and very advanced surveillance tools also refined for global export.

" Which is why it's such a common retort to say "You're not the real victim, I'm the real victim." The problem isn't racism, it's white people being unfairly accused of racism. The problem isn't sexual harassment and assault, it's the fear felt by men unsure what will happen to them if they're too flirty with their employees. The problem isn't hate speech, it's "political correctness" that keeps me from saying whatever I want. The problem isn't what Brett M. Kavanaugh did to Christine Blasey Ford, it's the fact that Kavanaugh had to endure listening to his accusers and all he got was a lifetime seat on the Supreme Court...
The idea of conservatives being the real victims in any situation is difficult to maintain when they control all the levers of power. But actual facts play only the slightest role in the construction of this narrative. If you believe that Trump a man born into wealth who spent a lifetime lying, cheating and staying one step ahead of the law is a victim, then you'll believe just about anything."

Yes, we're turning into China. That's what happens when you elect a leader with authoritarian tendencies, who has no problem tear gassing peaceful protesters.
In China, the president uses the military to crack down on dissidents. In China, the police regularly violate their citizen's rights. In China, the president and his ministers don't have to face a free press and ignore all foreign press unless it is fawning. In China, social media platforms could face liability if they don't tow the ruling party line.
Hrmm, maybe HankyPhD is finally right about something but for all the wrong reasons.

LOL! Try it, go over and protest, bring a bunch of Antifa friends, tell everyone how you feel about Xi Jinping and the CCP and report back on the conditions of your Chinese re-education camp. White lives, black lives....it doesn't matter.

I can't believe CBS aired this, William Barr made her look silly.
Wait, did I miss when the liberals brought tanks to prevent people from speaking their views?
I thought it was Trump who threatened to do that.
Weren't you paying attention to the anti-lock-down protests only three weeks ago when Americans peacefully protested their own government stripping them of their livelihoods, only to be gunned down by Nancy Pelosi's Congressional Military Police who used tanks AND aircraft carriers? She then ordered that the soldiers be quartered in the homes of the innocent people who they had just killed in cold blood, as there was now unoccupied beds in said homes!

I read that.
I must have missed that. Maybe I need to read the Epoch Times.

The main difference with China is that in China, every generation has been better off than the previous one since the 1980s, and that is going to be the case for the remainder of this century. In the US and most other western countries, it's the opposite, every generation has been poorer than the previous one, and the future is looking bleaker, with countries regressing into robber baron oligarchies with fewer economic opportunities and diminishing individual freedoms to boot.
Most Chinese mainlanders are satisfied with their government for this reason. Their parents and grandparents grew up in abject poverty and in a political climate that was far more repressive than the current one. Tienanmen was a speck of dust in terms of body count compared to Mao's forced famines and communist cultural purges of tens of millions. Today, the great majority of Chinese people feel that their government has been providing strong economic growth and political stability, and those factors supersede western-style liberal freedoms in the local Confucian mindset.
The Chinese middle class is thriving, covid hickup nothwithstanding. Their government has presided over what has been the greatest creation of national wealth in history; never in the history of mankind have so many people been lifted out of poverty in such a short time, with 600 million Chinese achieving middle class status or better.
The US has spend over $6 trillion on mideast wars in the past two decades, with nothing to show for except debt passed on to future generations. China has spent the same amount on its Belt and Road initiative, the largest global infrastructure project in human history, an investment which will pave the way for that country becoming the wealthiest in the world by a wide margin in the next few decades. It's as if Chinese leaders care more about the economic welfare and future of their people than just about any western leader...

Their bar was quite low to start with and, by the way, their wealth creation was largely the result of US manufacturing being shifted there. What happens to the analysis if that goes away?

Even by developing world standards, China's economic growth has been nothing short of stunning. China has started well below countries like India, Brazil or Mexico, and has left them in the dust. When you look at the graph below, knowing that India has been no slouch (for example overtaking Germany as the 4th largest auto manufacturer), you get a good picture of how dramatic its economic rise has been:
China is now the world's largest manufacturer by a wide margin.
China no longer depends on the US market, as its domestic market is now larger, and it is well positioned to capture a large share of growing markets in the developing world, where it has spent trillions building infrastructure and economic bridges. The US makes up about 18% of China's exports today, a share that is set to decline going forward, while China is well positioned to capture growth markets in Africa, Central Asia and Latin America.
The US and other western nations are handicapped by the "those jobs are never coming back" neoliberal mindset, which has completely pervaded academia, think tanks, the media, and ultimately the public mindset in America for decades, whereas countries like China (but also South Korea and Japan) have a deep fundamental understanding that you can't sustain a strong middle class and healthy economy without a serious national industrial policy. It is through strong, smart national industrial policies that all these Asian countries have become wealthy nations, with healthier middle classes.
In the US especially, policies that favor capital over labor have been a mainstay since the 1970s, and barring a deep cultural shift away from neoliberalism and towards economic populism, this is unlikely to change anytime soon, with interests like hedge funds and corporate lobbies controlling the political discourse and driving economic policy. All you need to do is look at the current covid bailout plan.
China has very shrewdly leveraged its domestic market to extract maximum technology transfer from competing western corporations, and has been moving up the value-added and tech manufacturing ladder, while its population has been climbing up the economic ladder. Going forward, China will use Africa and other developing regions as its lower-end manufacturing base.

I'll meet you in the middle: everybody is snowflakin' and what everyone needs to do is STFU, get off the streets, and get back to work. Me thinks this will solve 98.7% of our country's problems. Me also thinks this is not a satisfactory deal for you folks, because snowflakin' is a way of life

You think looking silly is something MSM actively seeks to avoid? LMAO
But I need a haircut. So I'm going to protest at the state capital with my GI Joe cosplay outfit and AR15 cuz I need to freshen up my do, and the lady needs her French tips, but the mean ol' Dims won't let us.
That kind of protesting is ok, right? Just expression' and flexin' my 2A rights...
