Why did Scalia's family decline an autopsy when the Right claimed foul play?
I'd venture an easy and reasonable guess.
1) Families often don't want to cut up their loved one. They are gone. They are satisfied with how it happened. No need to sully their death.
2) Meanwhile, others' interests are far less personal, and if they can twist a story one way or another, they will.

Very interesting. It has gotten awful quiet here on this thread. I think the Dems are also not showing with questions, not using their time, possibly opting to vote tomorrow night as well. Just get it over. Getting handed your backside ain't much fun.
There is nothing interesting about a foregone conclusion. Everyone knows the GOP is going to push this nomination through. The more interesting question will be what Democrats will do if and when they win back power.
What is interesting is how hard the Democrats didn't try to stop it That should tell you about how real their interest is in keeping her off the court (aka, none).
That's not interesting either. Democrats are in the minority and can't stop it.
Yes, because the Republicans have never been able to obstruct things with a minority. Even within a minority of their own party stopping the rest of their party.
Filibuster for SCOTUS nominees doesn't exist anymore.
They had other things they could have done besides a filibuster. They're more interesting in a token resistance pretending that they they are upset to pander to people like you.
Please enlighten us on the other things. I will wait for your response.

Doesn't matter. The GOP has the ultimate hand in this and she will be approved. The focus is on winning the white house and senate - not in acting like a bunch of whiners in such a way that threatens mission #1. Going after a losing cause is unwise. Win Big in November and white laws that turn a losing hand into a winning hand.

I read elsewhere that Wife voted for Biden, FYI.
Though, I believe he really didn't want to. It must have been difficult.
But, hey, that's okay - he did the right thing.
Thank you, Wife! I know I've give you a hard time here for 4+ years over your (my perception of) attempts to rationalize Trump and the Republican Party. I think this election, combined with the 2018 House flip, justifies my position which I have believed all along (so did Lindsay Graham). I'm frustrated that you came late, but I tip my cap that you have eventually pulled the trigger on Trump - a horrible horrible man by so many measures.

As I've long said, nobody wants to be the last man sitting at the Trump Table when the tent collapses. It's awful embarrassing for those diehard fans.

Again, I do apologize for giving you such a hard time about it. It's my inability to not comprehend how anyone could NOT have seen in Trump what I saw in him from the very start. Let the pig roast. I have no ability to forgive him. Empathy, yes. Forgive? No.

My earliest impressions of tRump were from the board room scenes on The Apprentice. My comment at the time to my wife was, "How would you like to be sitting there listening to someone that lacking in ethics and brainpower advising you how you didn't conduct yourself in a proper manner during one of the challenges?"
Then tRump would bring Don, Jr. and Ivanka into the board room to lecture the competitors and critique them. Those two would be lucky to be pushing mops if daddy hadn't provided them with the spoils of a lifetime of felonious business practices (said spoils which included "purchased" college degrees, just like daddy's).

Seriously???
I'm younger than you by maybe 10 years (I think we previously established) and I recall Trump from the 1980's sports pages with the NJ Generals - he was a total *****head owner who got a lot of press for exactly that.

I then recall him with his NJ casino fiascos, bankruptcy.
I also recall his affair with Marla Maples, cheating on his wife and bragging about it "Best Sex I Ever Had".

By the way, here's a funny story about Trump and the Generals I found on wiki while looking up to see if they ever won the title - they didn't.

1984

At 66 years old, Duncan soon tired of flying as far as 1,500 miles from his home in Oklahoma City to see his team play. Believing that the Generals were far too important to the USFL to have an absentee owner, he decided to sell to a local buyer. After the 1983 season, he found one in Donald Trump, who had initially angled for the franchise in 1982 before backing out.
Trump promptly fired Fairbanks. Seeking a high-profile coach, he initially tried to lure Joe Gibbs of the Washington Redskins. When those talks failed, he turned to legendary Miami Dolphins coach Don Shula. Trump offered him a $5 million contract. Shula was receptive, but insisted on getting a rent-free apartment at Trump Tower. In October 1983, Trump announced that the deal was all but done, but the only snag was Shula's insistence on an apartment. A furious Shula broke off talks. Years later, former Dolphins' running back Larry Csonka, by then an executive with the Jacksonville Bulls, said that he believed Shula would have taken the job, but was angered at being "thrown out to the press" by Trump. After Joe Paterno of Penn State turned him down as well, Trump hired former New York Jets head coach Walt Michaels.

Way to go, Coach Shula. Some people you just don't get in bed with. And it only took him a short while to figure that out about Trump. So easy!

Bearister; You know damn well RoevsWade will never be overturned. What States can do is to nibble around the edges to prevent atrocities like routine third semester abortions as well as making sure babies who are born alive receive the maximum medical protection after birth. Roe called for abortion in the first trimester....period. Oh....and folks who object to abortions should not have to finance Planned parenthood. And, religious orders should not have to finance abortions whether through direct payments or third party insurance payments. The Little Sisters of the Poor are STILL fighting the previous administration. Religious freedom means religious freedom. Ever lawyer knows a "right to an abortion" was NOWHERE in the constitution. It was "invented out of whole cloth." abortion should have been left to the States. Federalism means federalism. The States can construct safeguards. gay marriage???That was also invented out of whole cloth. let thge states decide which marriages meet constitutional muster.

" Under California law, elder abuse can be both criminal and civil. Criminal elder abuse occurs when a person knows that victim is an elder, then willfully causes or permits that elder to suffer, or inflicts unjustifiable physical pain or mental suffering on the elder."

I honestly can't imagine a dumber question than the one you just asked. You may not be aware of this, but the Republican party hasn't yet been able to outlaw being communist, muslim or homosexual. The difference between the question you say Hirono asked and your hypothetical is that Hirono asked about abhorrent behavior. Your hypothetical refers to constitutionally protected matters although to be honest I don't know what it means to "be a communist" in the US.

I know we joke around a lot with you, but you really need to get a grip if you can't see the difference here. If you don't understand what I'm saying, perhaps have your girlfriend or one of your children or grand children or great grandchildren read what you wrote and what I wrote and maybe they can make you understand what life is like in 2020 in America.

Dear Bearister: You are aware, are you not, that Ms. Fords' best friend said it never happened. Of course it never happened....25 years later and not ONE person can confirm any part of the story...ms.Ford even prevented her therapist from testifying..
contrast her story with Tara Reade. Tara told her Mother, Brother and best friend about Bidens' sexual assault in his office the day it happened. Then, her Mother called the Larry King show a few weeks later to allege the assault. You know it happened. So does everyone else in Wash. Biden has been sniffing, kissing, ogling and feeling up women ever since he took office. He stole his current wife from the man she was married to at the time. .You also smeared Amy Barrett by calling her right-wing. Please state the difference between a normal conservative and a ":right-winger" on any issue of your choosing. and, then, attempt to prove Barrett's views on that issue is far more extreme and dangerous than that of the more normal "conservative.
