no krispy kreme for kameron

Kameron might be a guy that impacts later in his career, but he very much needs a redshirt season for development purposes. So basically, while I'd take him if he truly is the best option we have, he's hardly a solution to Cal's impending problem of a lack of quality post depth next season. Taking a transfer or a JUCO might be a better short term solution.

tsub-hear what you are saying, are you aware of any non signed jc big men that are academically qualified for cal?

kr was apparently close to 300 lbs at the begining of the summer and has lost weight since then hence the offers from arizona, asu, washington & cal

he was a lot more upside than a lot of people including myself originally gave him when we saw his lumbering video...just like those embarassing celebrity sex videos, his dad sean should buy up all the remaining copies and put them in a vault

cal's 2014 pg commit amhaad rorie (3.8 gpa) lead his lincoln hs (tacoma) to a 61-49 victory in their season opener against benson tech of portland, a 5a school

lincoln is 3a school vs the 2a ball rorie played last year

ar scored 14 pts as he unselfishly distributed the ball & involved his new teammates including t fletcher (15 pts) who is a colorado 2013 commit

hope mr cranky pants will call amhaad and congraulate him on his role with the abe's successful opening game

My understanding is he is more a spot up shooter than ball handler! Think Crabbe (?). Will chill his first year and then take over as shooter with Singer at 1 after Crabbe and Cobbs leave. Kreklow will be a senior, but will Bird be back.

We will be okay at 1-4 with Kravish a senior, but who is the 5. Man, been asking this for years.

Unless we get someone even better, Frid, and I think we will be pleased with that combo.

Or Eleraky? But I have no idea what his JC experience will lead to. He's listed as "inactive" on the Barton roster.

all american j bird shot a highly efficient 10-14 fgs with 5 boards for 20 pts in sat's 64-32 win against menlo...apparently jb's d is getting tighter this season

salesian bb hc bill mellis is a cal grad and also told me that it is highly unlikely that tags will ever walk on for bb...bill thinks tags will only be at cal for 4 years so he's ok with him playing a few plays here and there during the 2012 season and not blueshirting...imo there's no doubt that tags will be the bears starting lt in 2013 hopefully protecting z kline's blindside backside

salesian=great student athletes--javid+tags=jb

I believe what you are saying is that it is believed Tagaloa is NFL material and as such is eligible to go pro after 3 years of college football. Maybe he'll be at Cal for 4 years, but he's good enough that there's no way he'd be here 5 years, so what does it matter if he played a bit here and there this past season, burning his "blue-shirt" season. I guess that's good! Better to have a quality "blind side" protector for 3 years than a mediocre one for 4 years!

k rooks will be visiting berkeley this weekend and with his strong academic profile and improving physique will hopefully commit to the bears during december over az (tripping dec 14th weekend), asu & uw...family plan is to have a decision this dec

g schilling does not have a trip scheduled to berkeley...imo he will sign with duke over ucla...coach k has done a masterful job of building a strong direct relationship with schilling's mom (who used to be a runway model in europe) who is now 100% in the duke camp

gotta win over the entire family in recruiting battles particularly the moms

#44 kameron rooks scored 22 pts (deadly 8-10 from the floor with 4 fts & 12 boards) on dec 7th with coach gottlieb in the stands

then he visited berkeley this last sat/sun with his mom (dad is with the phx suns developmental team)

k rooks is a cal fit as an excellent student athlete with a 3.5 gpa at mission hills...he has acknowledged several times that a cal degree is significantly more valuable for his longtime goals in life than the other schools pursuing him

asu: fast paced offense, mediocre academics, brutally hot summers, dad sean is with the suns, immediate pt available

arizona: fast faced offense, mediocre academics, brutally hot summers, dad sean was an all american at az, might not see pt for several years/could be recruited over by sm, will visit tuscon this weekend for az/florida game

washington: half court offense, average academics, cold weather (which cameron has already noted), immediate pt available, romar could be gone in the next year or two

drake: mid major, mediocre academics, cold weather, far from home

uconn: big time bb program, average academics, cold weather, far from home

cal: half court offense, #1 ranked public university in the world, great year round weather, immediate pt available

k rooks game is best suited imo for a team that pushes the ball with a primary half court offense...he appears to prefer warm weather

hopefully kr will commit to the bears later this month and then enroll early in summer bridge to begin the necessary relentless physical conditioning that is vital for him to compete for the open 1st big off the bench pt during the 2013 season

what up, sam singer?

2013 signee s singer has led his ransom everglades raiders coached by claude grubair (at school since 2005) to a 8-1 start with the only loss to large school south miami (which is also 8-1 with a few national games)

sam's stats this season:

32.5 ppg
4 3 pters per game
10 rpg
3.4 gpa at this prep school-equivalent to 3.8-3.9 at a calif public hs

last game vs lasalle:

39 pts
12 boards
10 assists

best of all, sam is characterized by the school staff as "humble" and "focused on improving"

as sam's dad is a successful attorney, it is only fitting that the deadly sharp shooting law firm of bird, matthews & singer arrive at berkelely together in 2013

imo ss needs to arrive in berkelely as quickly as possible after hs (doubt he will miss the nasty sweltering miami summer weather) and enroll in summer bridge and most importantly play in the sf summer league against more athletic players to better prepare him for pac 12 competition

if one of k rooks recruiting checklist items is playing with elite guards/small forwards that are also great student athletes with intense, humble and respectful teammates, cal is a very attractive option...
Shocky1
How long do you want to ignore this user?
if kr opts to join the bears as a full partner, then the 2013 cal deadly shooting law firm will be expanded to bird, matthews, singer & (k)rooks

2014 bears pg commit amhaad rorie continues his stellar & unselfish play in lincoln's 90-54 thrashing of north thurston with a game high 28 pts

note that ar's stats are impacted by his successful efforts to distribute to his teammates including colorado commit fletcher with 22 pts

the abes are now 5-0 and will leave the dreary tacoma area weather for the torrey pines classis in san diego dec 26-29...if both lincoln and salesian both win their first 2 games in the fiercely competiive national division, then future teammates a rorie and all american j bird will meet in the 3rd round

bod with cal's top 2015 recruit and national top 5 player #23 ivan rabb is in the lower bracket at the torrey pines classic...rabb's grandfather is a longtime bears fan so now is the time to build strong relationships with everyone in the rabb family before he is actively recruited by every major college program in the country

Sorry, but it sounds better if you go: Matthews, Bird and Singer.

Singer will actually MISS the warm humid summers of Miami. Berkeley receives nightly cool air and many people from the humid east coast (including my wife, RI, and sister-in-law, FL) report that summer time is not a time for the layered look - rather time for shorts and t-shirts 24-7. They are used to sitting on porches enjoying conversation at midnight in the same beach attire they wore all day. Cannot do that in Berkeley!

Man, what is up with Rorie and Singer scoring so many points! I think Richard Midgley was a scoring machine, too. Didn't mean he scored at will at Cal, but you gotta like guys that know how to put it in the bucket! And, Midgley turned out alright (insert 2003 NCAA tourney buzzer beater over NC State here).

kr's hs coach confirms that cal, arizona, asu and washington are all finalists and that a final decision could come before christmas

if the decision is based upon playing in a half court offense that best fits kr's skills set, the bears are in good shape

if the decision is based upon the potential opportunity for earned early pt, asu, washington and cal are in good shape

if the decision is based upon the next 40-50 years of kr's life, the bears are in good shape

korrections made, no disrespect intended for kameron

regardless of the decision, it certainly appears that kr is receiving strong guidance from his family...as a longtime nba veteran and now phx suns developmental league coach, kr's dad sean has no mirage like illusions re: the difficulty (and then avg length of career) of playing in the league

smart (and successful) people ALWAYS have a back up plan
