took my fashionista daughters shay & taylor and their friends katie and carson (uncle jeff hornaceck played in the nba & is currently the phx suns head coach) to the antlers (indie band from brooklyn) concert tonite at the crescent ballroom in downtown phx

shaylor live music rules stipulate that i cannot stand by them unless they initiate such proximity to their dad

oh well

anyways, my favorite song was the hauntingly beautiful "palace" which is about a very personal & special place in your life that is filled with treasured memories, somewhere that is magical

as the song ended i realized that in many ways haas pavilion is my palace

what is your palace?

leaving haas friday nite:

taylor: that was really fun, you get so animated!...i'm looking forward to sunday's game plus the cal players are really cute

me: whatever

taylor: so i can see why you consider the bears arena your palace...what do you think will be my palace someday?

me: i dunno, sweetie, that's something you'll need to figure out but for your future husband's sake i hope it's not bergdorf goodman

my pal usc ad pat haden hired andy endfield whose sole bb claim to fame was winning 2 ncca tnt games with 2.5 hs gpa dumb azzs...his fgc's players post game interviews were virtually imcomprehensible

so how did andy's 1st "dunk city" season at usc turn out?

not so good with an abysmal 11-21 season (2-16 in pac 12) & continued lousy attendance...the trojans only bright spots were knocking off dayton & a then pac 12 undefeated cal team...other than annie & mike montgomery along with myself, the bears players, coaches, staff & fans were virtually mute that ill fated nite at galen

so andy's next season is gonna get better, right?

nope, it's looking like another 20+ loss season in smogsville as leading scorer & rebounder byron wesley has opted to finish up school this at gonzaga as a graduate transfer in the hopes of avoiding another long season

endfield will be losing his 4 leading scorers:

***byron wesley, 17.8 ppg & 6.4 rpg
***pe'shon "bail bond" howard-10.8 ppg & a team high 3.9 apg
***j.t. terrell-9.8 ppg
***omar "dead eyes" oraby-8.2 ppg & 6.0 rpg

losing the stanley johnson sweepstakes (to arizona) after a 1000+ hrs of recruiting him really hurt the future of the program

so another 20+ loss season is in the cards for the trojans again

sorry pat, you hired the wrong endfield, you should've gone with amanda

fight on#

usc lost in the trojans season opener 76-68 to the portland state vikings at home at the galen center in front of 2811 fans

the owls ornery attack is led by #1 6'7" nigel pruitt, #3 6' delbert love, #24 6'5" orlando coleman & #42 6'6" damien wilson

Dear Shocky,

Thank you for reviewing in depth my strategic academic repositioning gameplan for the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Your sage suggestion that we consider not allowing escort agencies to come on campus and setting up information booths during the spring UNLV Career Job Fair is one I'm taking a hard look at acting upon during the upcoming year.

Although I can't publicly agree with you for obvious reasons in my current professional capacity, I wholeheartedly embrace your often repeated and brilliantly insightful thesis that highly attractive females from academically mediocre schools seek out Cal, Stanford and Ivy League grads as future boyfriends and husbands.

Shocky, this leads me to my simple request: Would you please introduce Tyrone Wallace to my daughter Aurielle?

Would you please check with Mr. Wallace and Mr. Marco Harris at the next game and confirm back to me that Tyrone will be graduating from Cal during the 2015/2016 academic year? I do not want my only daughter hooking up with a "Dumb Azz" that hasn't actually graduated from Cal, as you know college drop outs have no future in the competitive worldwide economy. Gosh, it's awfully fun to speak like you, Shocky!

Please convey to Tyrone that Aurielle (pictured below) is a recent honor role graduate of UNLV in our well regarded Horse Track Racing Transportation major, that she is very cheerful and loves all animals. Tyrone likes bareback horse riding, right Shocky?

Best regards,

Dean Wormer

Dear Shocky,

How are you?

I am fine.

Very excited to hear the news that Tyrone has been named the Pac 12 Player of the Week in recongition of his strong leadership & distribution/facilitation of his teammates with 20 PPG, 9.5 RPG & 5.5 APG.

Aurielle can't wait to meet Tryone but is very stressed out about what to wear during their 1st date. Shocky, your suggestions would be most appreciated.

Respectfully yours,

Dean Wormer

moreau catholic's damari milstead has been named to max prep's 5 player 3rd team freshmen all american team

cal (travis decuire) was the 1st bigtime program to offer damari

damari & his dad jules unofficially visited cal & sat down with cuonzo, tracy, jon, yanni & nicodeumus

"they're very down to earth...they talked a lot and they were very warm...all five of them were in the room and we talked about what they like in me, we talked about what i'm looking for in college and we talked about how they want me to come to cal"
-damari milstead (to ryan gorcey)

"elite 2017 prospect from the bay called. "we all love coach martin. we're all talking about cal now."...#goosebumps, man"
-yanni hufnagel

*********************************************************************

"my dude @oscar frayer just verbally committed to cal!"
-damari milstead

*********************************************************************

damari finished his freshman year at moreau catholic with a gpa of 3.3 which is just as important as his 15.5 ppg, 3.4 apg & 3.3 theft per game with an academic upside to achieve even higher gpas in the future

jules milstead (an assistant coach for mc & a director for the oakland soldiers) has told his son his cautionary autobiographical story about how not qualifying academically caused him to forego a full ride scholly to washington back in the day...jules attended diablo valley jc before finishing his college career at western state in colorado

if damari & the milstead family decide that staying home at cal is the best college decision, then problem solved re: the sadness of the so very hard to go deal

this summer on the flights back from amdsterdam thru london's heathrow t-5, both of my fashionista daughters shay & taylor were in serious debt to me due to a "misunderstanding" (yeah, right) involving my credit cards in paris...so they paid off their debts to society (like jean valjean) by sending out over 2500 form letter emails with a link to my post "dana altman is a criminal" to oregon faculty professors & staff (utilizing university staff directory lists) & simply asking "Are Dana Altman's actions on behalf of the University of Oregon acceptable to you?"

we received an over 30% response rate (almost all not supportive of altman) & then asked those responders to forward this link to everyone in their department at oregon & media outlets

since that time the university of oregon has established an independent (not controlled by the athletic department) special admissions review board to make sure dana altman can't bring any more dangerous dumb azzs to eugene...this board has already denied admission to 2 of altman's recruits, ray kosongo & jaquan lyle

one of the major goals of this thread is to contribute to the grass roots (phil knight & his handpicked athletic director really don't care) driven termination of employment & detoxify the collegiate basketball coaching of the university of oregon's current men's basketball head coach

i am dana altman's worst ******* nightmare

just watching the detroit vs oregon game & cannot believe that the tv announcer just said that "dana altman has recently lost 8 players due to reasons beyond his control"

uhhh, i don't think so, players being declared academically ineligible, denied admission into the school, illegally selling shoes, stealing from convenience stores & sexually assaulting female students isn't an accountable responsibility of the head coach?

the california golden bears are actively targeting 2015 top 25 6'4" 180s lbs scoring machine tyler dorsey

dorsey made a decommitment to arizona after he was cut from the usa basketball under 18 basketball team by assistant coach sean miller...the wildcats staff envisioned tyler playing strictly the 2 despite his interest & ability to be multiple

last season at st john bosco (he knows the charismatic bryce treggs) tyler averaged 21.4 ppg, 6 rpg & 4.7 apg with a solid 3.3 gpa

a native of pasadena, dorsey will transfer back home to marantha for his sr season

tyler has offers (with a list that continues to grow) from national powerhouses but in terms of staying on the west coast (and playing against arizona in the pac 12, do you wanna clownpunk sean miller 2-3 times a year?) & playing for a hc who develops combo guard talent at the #1 ranked public university in the world, the bears will be a serious player particularly if ivan decides to join him in berkeley...cal's 2015 recruiting class is already off to an excellent start with former top 30 player stephen domingo already shining in practices during his blueshirt season, who's gonna be the 2nd top 40 commitment for the 2015 class?

cuonzo & co had dorsey's first in home visit with coaches on september 9th

tyler's mentors thru the recruiting process are his dad jerrid & dinos trignos, a longtime respected aau coach for belmont shore...his official visits schedule is as follows:
oregon-september 5th
colorado-september 19th
kansas-october 10th
arizona state-october 17th
cal-october 24th

the above list is noteable for the truly mediocre schools from an academic standpoint that will not realistically open any doors in life outside of basketball other than cal, the #1 ranked public (#3 ranked overall) university in the world & also the costly/time consuming plane flights from lax to those schools other than asu & cal...let's face it, a kansas degree isn't worth much in so cal, sure it might get you a part time:axe security job at paseo colorado but guess what?...that isn't bill self's problem

together we attack#

trip update (as reported by jim mcgrill): "i had a great visit...i had a great time and really enjoyed myself...we took a tour of campus and sat down with an academic counselor and had lots of meetings...i had a chance to watch practice and hang out with the guys...everyone's a good dude and i really connected with them...yanni was one of the first coaches to contact me in my recruitment and our relationship has just grown from there...he's a great guy and coach martin's great too...i really like his coaching style and tough nosed style of play and the coaches have great relationships with their players"

Poeltl, in his very first college game, went for 18 and 10. He could be the best center in the conference in a few months. Huge, huge recruiting loss which received almost no attention on any of the Cal boards.

agreed that poeltl is a special player

disagree that he was a "huge, huge recruiting loss"...once mike retired & it was clear that gregg gottlieb would not be retained, jakob made a commitment to special k...the new staff never had a chance to recruit poeltl, therefore he was never "lost"

you can't lose what you never got

while jakob is more ball skilled at this time, at the end of the day the king is gonna be just as good (if not better, stronger physical skills)

A huge loss in the simple sense that after a recruiting battle he had decided on Cal and then ended up switching to Utah.

We'll see but Poeltl is in another league than Okoroh right now and I'd be really surprised if he gets near that skill level. Would be amazing to see happen. Poeltl is far ahead of Thomas Welsh too so this isn't a knock on Okoroh.

+2 million, the estimated number of people that have died in the Sudanese Civil war.

Least we ever forget, the kids (and they are kids) on our team do not "suck". They may not have the skills that some other kids do but they are kids. Treat them with respect and honor their achievements. Bak Bak is not only a winner but just as inspirational in his own was as Jorge - a favorite of most (all?) of us on this board.
