He just signed a deal to play in Germany.

Ashley would have been nice to have, but he's one of quite a few bigs the previous staff missed on. Heck, even Landen Lucas is contributing for Kansas. I thought he'd eventually transfer out, but he hung in there and is playing over 2 highly recruited guys that Self apparently didn't have the patience to develop for this season.

Please compare and contrast Brandon Ashley and Ivan Rabb.

1) This website says Ashley was at one time the #6 prospect. Gee, didn't Rabb end up #6 overall, too?

2) They both went to BOD. Both tall, slender forwards.

3) Ashley is 6'8". Rabb 6'10".

4) Both were recruited by both Cal and AZ.

Perhaps Rabb declined AZ in part by Ashley's failure there (sorry, but if you leave after 3 years, and don't make the NBA after that lofty #6 rating, the AZ experience can't be considered a success - not in my book).

Here's a key difference. Rabb appears to be a first round (if not lottery) LOCK.
HoopsHype.com and NbaDraft.net have him #9
draftexpress.com has him #15
Chad Ford at ESPN has him #11
And, even the NBA has a draft board, where he is #8

Thus, I'd say the BOD tall skinny forward #6 rated line is where the comparisons end.

OK. say it again, there is something in the defensive scheme that is about NOT forcing turnovers. Not that they don't WANT to but that it isn't how they are built. I can't remember, for example, the last time we trapped or picked up aggressive full court or tried to hard hedge the screen. We hardly ever dig down at the post. What is telling even though we don't force turnovers we are so good in limiting teams to a low percentage. What would help us be even better is to limit OUR turnovers to single digits. Have we lost when we have done that?

100% agreed, there are some people who run away from life's challenges & there are those who actively & passionately work to solve problems...montera middle school has many supporters including their hard working educators (teachers like parentsarebears are my idols), lou richie & oral lee brown, they are gonna be around to make oakland a better place

st marys (27-5) lost in 85-75 to gonzaga in the west coast conference championship game in las vegas, this places the gaels on the bubble & their weak azz preseason schedule other than cal & stanford could result in them being not invited to the big dance...the gaels gotta schedule tougher opponents in the future, there's absolutely no reason for cal to ever play in st mary's tiny crack house gym which would exclude the bears growing fan base from attending, all future games between the 2 school should be played either at haas pavilion or a large neutral site in the bay area...in marco we trust
