Ira Lee is a PF. Just because he's 6'7" doesn't make him a 3, that's not his game. Nwora is listed as a 4 by some services and a 3 by others. Seems like he's a shooter but not the athlete that some might want for a wing.

Right now the scholarship depth chart for 2017-18 seems to be;

1 - Moore / Coleman / Chauca
2 - Baker
3 - JHD
4 - M. Lee / Davis
5 - Rooks / KO

JHD seems like he could still be growing. He looked to be about as tall as Coach Martin in a picture I saw and CM is really 6'4" or so. Davis could probably play the 3, also, especially on D, though his skill level and shooting might need some improvement for him to be seriously considered for extended minutes there. I wouldn't mind seeing Roger redshirt for development purposes, but that's not likely. Probably should have redshirted as a freshman, but that's water under the bridge.

tsub, dontae coleman is a combo guard, on your 2017 depth chart above i would move him to the 2 as jemarl baker's back up...if my boy brandon chauca (nobody is gonna outwork him) can knock down the open 3 pointers, he will be a competent back up to charlie moore & earn minutes at the 1

interesting idea about roger moute a bidias blue shirting but agreed that's not gonna happen now, he will help the team this season as relentless chaser on d vs allonzo trier, tyler dorsey, etc...nobody on this team fights thru brutal screen packages better than roger, he's a very tough guy & that counts for a lot in coach martin's man on man d scheme

roman davis told me at the year end banquet that he's a 3 but his shooting development is still probably a year away from him impacting at the wing...nba scouts noted in pregame warm ups last season his athleticism, roman is a +1 athlete that can rebound & play d...in watching juhwan harris dyson practice with elite sharpshooter jemarl baker during their official visits to berkeley 2 weeks ago, he also needs to put up 500+ 3 pointers a day too...jhd is a freak athlete but doesn't have the shooting skills now to start at the 3

bottom line, the staff can honestly (they don't know any other way) tell jordan nwora, donnie tillman (very mentally tough strong student that is multiple) & abu kigab (will officially visit berkeley this weekend) that the starting 3 in 2017 is gonna be a wide open competition with jabari bird's graduation

This was the case for the past 4 years.

nurse wicked is advising that kam should be cleared for full physical contact in 2 weeks while recovering form his current foot injury

meanwhile k(rooks) is putting up more practice shots than at any other time in his career & it's gonna pay off this season

it's 12:48 pm & cal's basketball practice at haas pavilion has been over for 20+ minutes with coach martin leading the guys in a "together we attack" hands together huddle

at the south basket coach nic & graduate assistant coach nick kerr are having a fiercely contested steph curry vs klay thompson 3 point shooting contest from a couple feet behind the nba 3 point line, if you told me both of them guys are about 12 years i would believe you with all the friendly trash talking

kam shot 50+ free throws & made at least 70% of them with a much improved flow to his shot & a higher arc with a couple going in after a soft shooter's bounce off the rim/backboard...kam then starts knocking down 50% of 17 footers from the center of the key with a graceful motion, he is in the zone...they close out with kam working on his footwork on a couple of post interior moves...the extra practice closes out with kam dunking with ease something that wasn't so easy 2 seasons ago

the bears schematically were limited last season in tight games during the 5 minutes as they could not afford to have kam & king shooting free throws down the stretch, this required ivan to play the 5 in a small ball lineup to maximize free throw opportunities which put us at a disadvantage vs arizona's zeus & utah's poeltl...that will not be an issue now with kam's tremendous improvement in his shooting

as kam jogs to the locker room to get ready for the football game activities, coach o'toole runs over to his son & starts coaching him up too, the guy is a ball of energy

so then it's 1:35 pm near sproul plaza & the cal band is playing our favorite songs on a perfect berkeley fall afternoon while the dance & cheer teams are doing their thing...the team is walking up to memorial stadium & i excuse myself from osogato's absolutely tasty tailgate party to talk to a bunch of the guys

i meet marcus lee for the 1st time & i can tell by his big smile that's he's heard about that crazy azz shocky...that's ok, marcus, i'm not going anywhere

after being congratulated on his shooting performance, rooks told me that while recovering from his recent injury that all he could do was practice his shooting...kam is both gracious & articulate, he is truly a special young man & he seems more determined (when he missed a free throw he was visibly agitated) than at any other point in his cal career, this season is all about him recognizing his potential as the pac 12's best 5 & honoring his dad sean

***altman's program also does not physically develop guys for the brute strength necessary in the nba, long skinny athletes with length can win college basketball games but they will be abused & exposed in the nba...current 5 chris boucher & 2 tyler dorsey are the latest examples, boucher is 6'10" & 194 lbs & tyler dorsey is 6'4" 171 lbs how come they aren't gaining more weight while in eugene?

***guys don't develop perimeter shooting skills in eugene, altman's offensive scheme favors close range shooting with relentless interior put backs rebounding (which is ira lee's only skillset at this time)...that will win a lot of college basketball games but the evolving nba positionless game favors guys with serious 3 point shooting skills, that's not happening with the ducks program...oregon shot an abysmal 34.3% on 3 pointers last year: dillon brooks 33.8% & tyler dorsey 40.6% do not got nba range, it's just not a point of emphasis in altman's offensive scheme

***the oregon s&c program does not build enough strength to protects its player, dylan ennis missed all of last season with a broken left foot...dillon brooks also has a left foot injury & will miss at least half of this season due to serious complications, if he declares for the nba draft after this season he will not be selected & it's expected he will return to eugene in 2017 with the hopes of proving to scouts that his body can withstand the pounding of the nba & that he's healthy enough to even try...neither ennis or brooks has a realistic future in the league, guys are damaged goods

troy, criminal dana altman will not mentor you in becoming a true student athlete with a wide range of diverse interests including your passion for artistic endeavors & he will not fully develop your nba potential talents either but he will tell you everything that he thinks you wanna hear
