Washington Huskies SB Nation site is reporting that it looks like Tim OToole will not be joining the new Husky coaching staff and will remain at Cal due to the hiring of Wyking Jones as Cal's new head coach.

that is accurate, congrats tim

michael milken's net worth is $3.6 billion, he is a relatively untapped donor for the athletic department development office & could fund a new dedicated basketball practice facility with interest from his piggybank in the kitchen

big c, the 3 assistant coaches are gonna be a well conceived synergy of former collegiate head coaching, cal basketball playing & invaluable prep school recruiting connections with a splash of the nba along with coach wyking's hollywood oscar nite skills

this **** is getting live

the magic of cal basketball (do you your season tix(s) for next season?)#

Well, there's a little guessing game! A former collegiate head coach as one of Jones' Assistants?

I'll start: Monty? Jay John comes back to the bench for a year or two? Romar? Lavin? Phil Mathews (brings his son from U$C)? I'm throwing bombs here that are missing wildly, aren't I? How about that guy who was at Santa Clara (name of Keating, iirc?)?

tim, thank you for staying with the cal basketball program under coach wyking

we gotta get better schematically particularly offensively with ball movement (less dribbling to nowhere), player movement (more cutting, less standing around) & feeding marcus, kam & the king

are you gonna continue to beat the **** out of cole welle during practices with your foam board while he works on his finishing moves thru contact?

welcome new assistant coach tim o'toole to the cal family as coach martin completes the program's coaching staff

o'toole was most recently on johnny dawkin's staff at stanford & clearly understands the unique dynamics of recruiting high gpa true student athletes...prior to that he was the director of basketball operations at syracuse & was on their bench for the 2013 final four run, he was also an assistant coach under coach boheim during 1992-1995...the renaissance man has worked as an espn college basketball analyst & perhaps most impressively while working as the head coach of the fairfield stags he was recognized by the state of connecticut for implementing a reading program that reached 65,000 kids that emphasized the importance of academics as well as athletics

from a recruiting standpoint, o'toole will bring longtime established east coast connections & relationships to the cal basketball program which will complement the geographical strengths of coach webster (midwest) & coach jones (the west coast)

coach o'toole's experience in game planning against specific pac 12 teams & players will also be a huge plus from a scouting report standpoint during the season

sitting on the floor directly from the opposing team's bench, i've absolutely noticed o'toole's fiery personality which sharply contrasted to the stoic demeanor of dawkins (check out the foto above)...he seemed to have a strong connection with the cardinals players, coaching them up in a positive way...dude is gonna be a ball of energy at haas pavilion on gamedays, he's got a lotta energy

this is a very strong hire that will further the cal basketball program's current upward trajectory

welcome to tim, berkeley

today is tim o'toole's 1st day on the job

tim, this is the official schedule for your morning

7:00 am drop by goodwill & donate all that ugly azz red clothing including the ties
7:15 am kale raspberry salad breakfast with coach christopher
7:30 am: tour of campus including chancellor nicky d's trap house & the view from the university club at memorial stadium
8:15 am: hr paperwork & **** like that
8:30 am: break down for the rest of the staff how your syracuse adapted zone defense resulted in minimal touches for ivan rabb in cal's upset loss to stanford in palo alto this season
9:00 am share the stanford recruiting prospect list for the 2021 class of all guys with at least a 3.5+ gpa
9:15 am read the cal's monster class
noon ask coaches martin, webster, jones, harris & greene where's the best barber in berkeley?...eat lunch alone

Tim O'Toole. He was a former HC I believe. I expect him to stay on staff. Excellent teacher of the zone defense. Something I would like to see a little more of. Man defense is great but there are times for zone. Cuonzo did not do it enough.

Got it, Vineyardview. LOL, it's not that your font choice wasn't big enough when you first posted "O'Toole", it's that I hadn't read what you wrote yet. And, frankly...though I knew that O'Toole was an assistant on The Farm, I didn't know he had been a Head Coach (must've read it when he first came here, but forgot), so I never would've guessed him.

I will guess this, though: Maybe there was the tiniest rift on the staff last season, between Jones/O'Toole and Cuonzo-and-his-guy-Webster? Or am I projecting drama where there was none? Maybe it was confined to Jones and O'Toole having a beer one night and each confiding to the other, "WTH is Cuonzo doing? If I were running this show, I would... "

It also appears that Nicodemus Christopher will remain on staff.

He remains on the Cal Bears site as Strength and Conditioning Coach which seem a good indication that he and his wife plan to continue their careers in the Bay Area.

agreed alkidat & expect even a greater impact next year as wyking's personality will likely be more receptive to feedback from his staff particularly an experienced basketball mind like tim in playing more syracuse zone when necessary in certain match ups

martin was too stubborn to listen to his staff to play zone against teams that clearly could not knock down perimeter shots that just wanted to bully us inside & make bull runs with their beasts at the basket (like utah, seton hall & stanford this season)

next year we could realistically have the best interior d in the nation with marcus & the king along with kam blocking shots/dominating the boards, more zone would minimize opponent's with tall point guards with length (like virginia, oregon & arizona this season) seeking to exploit charlie's size at the 1

good luck scoring against them bears then, there's a reason the nba has outlawed zone defenses, it's effective in shutting down offenses

2018's #2 rated player & true student athlete with a 3.5 gpa jordan brown scored 35 points along with a relentless 17 boards but his woodcreek timberwolves got the metal jacket treatment 74-67 from the california state open division champions bishop montgomery knights at the golden1 arena in sacramento

check out the twitter below for video clips of #21 (notice how at the game's end, he's the 1st guy in line to handshake/congratulate his opponents on their victory), he is the superstar that could change everything for the cal basketball program, he's kinda like isaac hymes that way

the cal basketball head coach selection committee (mike williams, ashwin puri, jay john & david secor) spent a lot of time evaluating randy bennett & eric musselman, neither one of them would've been a good cal fit for a variety of reasons

bennett has a reputation for shady recruiting thru the years & is currently on probation, any approval of him would've required extra steps in the approval process because bennett's is still on probation for past violations of one of his assistant coachs

as musselman went further in the interview process he started to question if he could actually win at cal, he's never recruited 3.0+ gpa true student athletes in his entire career, his self awareness of the unique admissions challenges resulted in him using the cal telephone & in person interview as leverage to get a much better deal in reno with casino money

dennis gates was both arrogant & unprepared in his telephone interview with the selection committee, he did not do his homework & did not even know who was on the cal basketball roster...gates was asked hypothetical questions regarding how he would handle certain situations as a head coach that he could not answer because of his lack of preparation for the interview

joe pasternack got a phone interview but did not interview in person...despite support from many former players including ryan anderson a dissenting letter from solomon hughes hurt his candidacy

russ turner impressed a lot of people & had the full endorsement of mike montgomery

despite all the incorrect reports & speculation in the white centric mainstream media that tries to shut out unconventional voices like the monster, the only person who was offered the head coaching position other than coach wyking was harvard's tommy amaker

If I understand you correctly, you have never met nor spoken with Pasternack. He didn't get the job despite your endorsement, so he gave you a call to thank you? How did he know to call you? Was he reading this thread and said to himself "I need to find this Shocky guy and thank him for his support and his size 31 waist?

Or did someone in the AD clue him in about a zealous Cal fan and donor who was riding the Pasternack express? Passed along your private cell number?

I don't even know why I'm even curious about this.

Also, I am curious about what Hughes said against him. I'm glad he did though. The only kicking coaches we need are for soccer or judo.

there are a lot of high school & college coaches that got my number & that's fine if they share it with people like pasternack, we're gonna meet in person down the road at an aau or high school recruiting game but no worries no way i'm gonna share the confidential cal monster class key targeted prospect big board with a guy who works for the donut boy of tuscon, that's never gonna happen

My understanding is that Doug was not that big a supporter of Pasternack. Also, I'm curious why you are so supportive of Milkin. You keep referring to Dana Altman as a "criminal" (no argument there), but Milkin is an ACTUAL criminal who spent several years in federal prison, yet you cite his judgment.
Shocky1
How long do you want to ignore this user?
ursa, i was not aware of michael milken's apparent support of pasternack until joe told me after the selection process was over

criminal dana altman ruthlessly & intentionally recruits rapists & those with documented troubles as part of his recruiting model to target 2.5 gpa dumb azzs that are 100% focused on basketball 24/7/365 whose aau teams have been financially incentivized by their corporate organization partner for delivering their players to eugene, brandon mccoy is altman's latest shoe company acquisition

michael milken is a much more complex person, there is his development of junk bonds & later his 10 year sentence (served 8 years) & $600 million dollars fine for violating us securities laws yet there is also his philanthropic work for charities for children & much needed medical research

my take is that he's kinda a modern day robin hood with a net worth of $3.6 billion dollars, he could be a key player in the fundraising for the much needed dedicated basketball practice facility

Pasternak simply needs to make a straightforward apology, as what he did was wrong. For him to dismiss what he did, if you are quoting him, as "a split second involuntary body reaction," is no apology. It is a pathetic excuse.
Shocky1
How long do you want to ignore this user?
the monster is read by the coaches, staff & players (with the noteable exceptions of jordan mathews last season & stephen domingo this year) & the vast majority of the current recruiting targets for cal's go all the way up class (2017) & cal's started at the bottom class (2018)...the monster was read by ivan rabb & jaylen brown in high school & cal's potential next superstar jordan brown is also a follower

so it's kinda funny when white conservative middle class critics that favor censorship at the expense of free speech that doesn't represent their specific values say the monster doesn't reflect the university of california, berkeley...nothing could be further from the truth

we are all mutts of mixed descent#
