Brandon McIlwain is the best outfielder on the Cal football team.

Brandon McIlwain is also the best running back/wide receiver on the Cal baseball team.

The transfer from South Carolina is trying to make his mark in both sports in Berkeley. It hasn’t been a unqualified success yet, but there have been flashes of the potential in both sports.

He was quiet in his early baseball efforts, going hitless in eight at-bats. But he had three hits, including a double and a triple Friday.

Yes that's been the case for awhile and Wilcox talked about it a few weeks ago at the press conference.

Yes go Brandon. He did everything asked of him last season. He took some shots too running all the time.

Thanks! That helps fill a major team need and probably is a better combo with baseball. I'd think QBs that want to start/play need to spend all non-official practice time throwing and studying the playbook. I can see him as a star this fall in the slot.
