Aguilar Chooses Bears After Visit to Cal

June 20, 2019

Cal received a commitment from 6-5/250 Servite offensive tackle Ender Aguilar today following his official visit to Cal over the past couple days.

Aguilar announced his commitment to Cal today, saying:

“Thank you to everyone who has recruited me. God has blessed me with many great schools to go to but I have decided to commit to the University of California, Berkeley.”

Aguilar has largely played defensive end and a bit of tight end for Servite but will be focusing more on offensive line as a senior. As a DE, Aguilar had 25 tackles, two tackles for loss and one fumble recovery in eight games for Servite as a junior. Although light for at OT, Aguilar appears to have the frame to put on good weight to play at the collegiate level and has the feet and athleticism that veteran Cal offensive line coach Steve Greatwood looks for in his linemen.

Stay tuned for more from Aguilar later today.

Love this type of recruit. Exactly the type of thinking that Cal needs to be using when recruiting O linemen right now. We are not going to be beating out anyone for 5 stars but this kid looks like a great pickup if he can make the transition. Tall and great feet...what a start.

My personal view is that a player that changes from Defense to Offense at a particular position (or vice versa) brings special knowledge to his game. He knows how to to better defend (or attack).

If he plans on playing OT, he needs to gain about 40 lbs. of "good" weight before he will be able to make a difference on the field. Pencil him in for 2022 or 2023...
