Bears Open Regular Season by Hosting UC Riverside

The Wyking Jones era in Cal basketball debuts for real Friday night when the Bears host UC Riverside at Haas Pavillion. Plan on staying up late because the tip off is at 9 p.m.

The Bears, whose roster features seven freshmen, took apart University of Providence Monday night in an exhibition. They got a look at five of their frosh, four of them, Darius McNeill, Austin McCullough, Deschon Winston and Grant Anticevich for decent minutes.

"It was unreal," McCullough said.
