Marshall Cherrington Returns As Director Of Player Personnel
BERKELEY – Travers Family Head Football Coach Justin Wilcox announced Tuesday the addition of Marshall Cherrington as Cal's Director of Player Personnel and the promotion of Zac Bocian to Senior Director of Football Affairs.
"We are excited to add a position to our recruiting office and thrilled to bring a familiar face back in Marshall," Wilcox said. "He is young, energetic, talented and a tremendous asset to our football program."
"This is also a tremendous opportunity for Zac to take on additional responsibilities within our program while continuing to be a critical and influential member of our recruiting operation," Wilcox added. "It will allow us to tap deeper into Zac's versatile skill set and also give him an opportunity to expand his influence."
Cherrington began his professional career at Cal as a recruiting assistant in 2018 and also served as the Golden Bears' Director of Recruiting Strategy from April of 2019 through January of 2021. Cherrington helped Cal sign a 2021 recruiting class that was ranked as high as No. 20 nationally according to ESPN. Last season, he served as the Director of Recruiting Strategy at USC. Among Cherrington's duties as Cal's Director of Player Personnel will be the evaluation of recruits, maintaining relationships with recruits and their families, and overseeing the program's creative and social media.
Bocian, who has been Cal's Director of Player Personnel for the last three seasons, will become the team's Senior Director of Football Affairs. He will have responsibilities related to player personnel, football processes, strategic planning, recruiting, and roster management, among others. A 2003 Cal graduate, Bocian will be working his 20th season in the collegiate football or NFL ranks in 2022.
