With Three Weeks Till Late Signing Day, Bears Ramp up For '22 Calendar

January 13, 2022

With much of their ‘22 recruiting class signed and secured and just a couple more targets left to sign in the later signing period Feb 2, the Bears have turned much of their focus to the 2022 calendar and the 2023 recruiting class.

At present, the Bears’ 2022 recruiting class has 11 signees and recent portal transfers from Purdue QB Jack Plummer, Washington MLB Jackson Sirmon and Utah DE Xavier Carlton and are expecting signings from Mater Dei cornerback Cameron Sidney‍ and San Ramon Valley OT Jackson Brown‍ on February 2. Also on tap for the 2nd is a Virtual Signing Day Event, which will take place online from 6:00 - 7:00 P.M. PT.

The Bears couild be active in the transfer portal again in the spring, as players often enter the portal as depth charts become clearer and opportunities arise. The advent of NIL could also continue to impact the recruiting landscape this spring.

Junior Day is currently scheduled for March 5, with additional unofficial visits throughout spring semester and during Spring Ball starting April 5. Early enrollees Jaydn Ott‍ and Mason Starling‍ will join the three portal transfers in spring ball, getting an early start on the ‘22 season.

The rest of the ‘22 class will report for summer classes in June, with two months to get acclimated before Fall Camp, which typically starts near the beginning of August. Fall classes start on August 24 and the 2022 season kicks off at home vs. UC Davis September 3.
