Bears Add Big RB Target in 2024 Texas RB Jamaal Wiley
The Bears picked up one of their early running back targets with the commitment of Stafford High School running back Jamaal Wiley. The 6-1/215 Texas RB was offered by the Bears in January by Cal running backs coach Aristotle Thompson in January.
"Cali just felt like home, Wiley said. "I’ve been to a lot of colleges and Cal Berkeley by far felt the most like home even though I’m so far from it. Coach AT and the rest of the coaches here at Cal were amazing. I didn’t want to go home.
"It was the genuine care and support from the coaches and older players that made me commit. The perks that come with getting that Cal Berkeley degree are unfathomable. All the older players were amazing. The running back room is loaded. The school and facilities were top of the line. You can tell they have the players' health and performance abilities in the top of there priorities. Can’t forget the great food and culture and fans all around great experience.
"Cal is the best place for me."
Wiley was part of a large contingent of official visitors this weekend, making the trek out to Berkeley with fellow Texan DT Legend Journey and ILB commit Eze Osondu and also joins additional Lone Star State commits OT Tyler Knape and OLB Michael-Anthony Okwura in the early 2024 class of Cal commits.
The 3 star RB has totaled 416 2355 on 416 carries and 35 TDs on the ground on varsity for Stafford along with 12 receptions for 240 yards and two more TDs through the air.
Wiley also holds offers from Baylor, Oklahoma State, Missouri, Arkansas and more and becomes the seventh Cal commit in the Class of ‘24.
