Bears Pull in 2025 Houston DL Ike Okafor
Just days after adding 2025 Utah offensive lineman Ben Howard, the Bears hauled in another pair of 2025 commits, including 6-3/250 Alief Hastings (Houston, TX) High School defensive lineman Ike Okafor this morning following his official visit to Cal over the weekend.
“My visit was great. I love that place. It’s cool and nice over there and I love the program and Coach Browning, too,” Okafor said after his commitment this morning. “He’s been talking to me since January.
“He likes me at the 3-technique (playing off the offensive guard’s right shoulder) position and he loves my hands, my get-off and my explosiveness. I’m also a leader and play with good speed for my size.”
Cal’s academics played a big role in his decision, as well.
“I didn't know they were the number one public school in the country. That’s really big for me and my family.”
Okafor’s commitment to Cal came after an official visit to ASU and the rising senior also chose the Bears over additional offers from Texas Tech, Pitt, Washington State and more.
Besides the aforementioned Howard, Okafor joins new running back commit Anthony League, quarterback Robert McDaniel, running back Jojo Solis, receiver Meyer Swinney, linebacker Carter Jones and cornerback Kaden Cook as 2025 prep commits for Cal.
