Bears Begin Their DB Rebuild with FIU Cornerback Hezekiah Masses
Cal began the rebuild of their defensive backfield that sees the Bears needing to replace all four starting DBs, including consensus All-American corner Nohl Williams with the addition of Florida International cornerback Hezekiah Masses last night after his official visit to Cal this week.
“As soon as I got on campus I felt like I was home!,” Masses said after his commitment last night.
The 6-1/170 senior corner has seen significant playing time over the last two seasons for FIU, compiling 38 tackles, 1 interception returned 42 yards, 1 forced fumble and 4 passes defended this season as a junior. He added 42 tackles, 1 interception returned for a 40-yard touchdown, 1 fumble recovery and 4 passes defended.
The native of Deerfield Beach, Florida becomes the fourth public commitment from the portal for the Bears, with several other committed portal transfers yet to announce. He joins Notre Dame defensive lineman Tyson Ford, UNC Charlotte kicker Kyle Cunahan and Notre Dame cornerback Jaden Mickey kicking off the Bears’ portal recruiting season.
