Bears Pick up 4 Star Navy All-American OL Justin Hasenhuetl
The Bears added one of their highest-rated prep recruits of their 2025 prep recruiting class today with the pickup of 4 star Rabun Gap Nacoochee (Rabun Gap, Georgia) offensive tackle Justin Hasenhuetl. The newest Bear announced his commitment to Cal on NBC in this afternoon’s Navy All-American Bowl in San Antonio, selecting a Cal hat from a table that also contained hats for finalists North Carolina and Arkansas.
Hasenhuetl was an early commit to Georgia Tech but decided to move away from Tech later in the season. He had a chance to visit Cal for their stirring Big Game comeback win over Stanford, which left a strong impression on the 6-5/290 lineman originally from Köln, Germany.
“It was my first time being there and seeing everything and talking to everyone,” Hasenhuetl said of the visit. It was amazing. I was even in the locker room the day before and Aaron Rogers just walked into the room and started to hold a speech in front of the guys.
“They showed more love than anyone else. I had a nice time over there."
"Justin is a great player," Hasenhuetl's coach Derek White said. "He's very physical and athletic and he's a weapon. He really can be a weapon in the screen game. He really gets after it.
“He had a big setback as a junior, tearing his ACL. He's all back. He's going to be a 300 pounder when he's in college. He just has such a fast metabolism.
“As a person, he's a very humble person. He's a sweet kid who really, really cares for people and made a story for himself, coming all the way from Germanu the other year and going through the little bit of injury his junior year and finally getting his own choice where he's going to be at school.
“Amazing story."
The talented lineman is projected by some as an offensive guard at the next level and will likely get looks at Cal for both. He was also offered by Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Oregon, Tennessee, USC and more.
Hasenhuetl will be joined by fellow prep offensive linemen Skyridge HIgh School (Lehi, Utah) OG Ben Howard and Liberty OT Mike Klisiewicz and five additional portal OL additions in the 2025 class.
