Bears Pick up 4 Star Navy All-American OL Justin Hasenhuetl

The Bears added one of their highest-rated prep recruits of their 2025 prep recruiting class today with the pickup of 4 star Rabun Gap Nacoochee (Rabun Gap, Georgia) offensive tackle Justin Hasenhuetl‍. The newest Bear announced his commitment to Cal on NBC in this afternoon’s Navy All-American Bowl in San Antonio, selecting a Cal hat from a table that also contained hats for finalists North Carolina and Arkansas.

Hasenhuetl was an early commit to Georgia Tech but decided to move away from Tech later in the season. He had a chance to visit Cal for their stirring Big Game comeback win over Stanford, which left a strong impression on the 6-5/290 lineman originally from Köln, Germany.

“It was my first time being there and seeing everything and talking to everyone,” Hasenhuetl said of the visit. It was amazing. I was even in the locker room the day before and Aaron Rogers just walked into the room and started to hold a speech in front of the guys.

“They showed more love than anyone else. I had a nice time over there."

"Justin is a great player," Hasenhuetl's coach Derek White said. "He's very physical and athletic and he's a weapon. He really can be a weapon in the screen game. He really gets after it.

“He had a big setback as a junior, tearing his ACL. He's all back. He's going to be a 300 pounder when he's in college. He just has such a fast metabolism.

“As a person, he's a very humble person. He's a sweet kid who really, really cares for people and made a story for himself, coming all the way from Germanu the other year and going through the little bit of injury his junior year and finally getting his own choice where he's going to be at school.

“Amazing story."

The talented lineman is projected by some as an offensive guard at the next level and will likely get looks at Cal for both. He was also offered by Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Oregon, Tennessee, USC and more.

Hasenhuetl will be joined by fellow prep offensive linemen Skyridge HIgh School (Lehi, Utah) OG Ben Howard and Liberty OT Mike Klisiewicz and five additional portal OL additions in the 2025 class.

Come on man, you are still not comprehending what was posted. #70 is the same person (two photos for reference to show what someone 6'4" or 6'5" and 280 looks like). Neither photo was Justin. Re-read if you'd like but I'd advise you move on. LOL.

And neither #70 - regardless of his name- was 50 lbs lighter than the [purported] 335 lbs guy, rendering the "280" claim (suddenly and inexplicably revised upwards from the original 260 lb claim) spurious at best. So "I'd advise you" stop trying to put lipstick on a pig.

Surely you cannot be serious because It's really not that confusing. The only one in the discussion ever described as being 260lbs was JH by a recruiting service, which I personally think is more accurate than 300lbs by how lean he looks. Hope he gains weight and I hope he develops into a force.

And yes, #70 was 50+ lbs lighter than the kid standing next to him in that photo.

I guess I will just have to accept that you're a fella who can talk himself into believing just about anything once you have your mind set on it. "Surely".

Ironic coming from the guy who still, STILL, thinks somehow that the player in the two photos that I posted (who is someone I've known since birth) is Justin Hasenhuetl. That long flowing hair is peculiar, isn't it? Sorry, i'll be more clear. It's not Justin Hasenhuetl, the photos were taken about 6 months apart, he got a haircut between the his HS senior season game photo and his college recruiting trip photo, but he is still someone who in both photos was REALLY 280lbs.

I'm willing to accept JH may someday be 300 lbs as his coach said. 247 isn't buying that he's 290 now and from the sound of it, either was Georgia Tech. It sounds like he's a good pick up, very athletic, and should grow into his length. I don't hate him. Happy now?

If Cal had a strong men's basketball program, would more folks would be posting about that instead of arguing over photographs of football players who don't even attend Cal? I blame WyFox (but I'm getting concerned about Madsen).

Oh, you 'spoke to' "247" and "Georgia Tech", did you? I would not characterize the quote you cited as an endorsement of your stiff-necked argument.

And as far as GT goes, I wasn't stating it as fact. I said "from the sound of it" which refers to stories that JH didn't meet his agreed to weight gains and has had trouble keeping weight on. I'll keep going if you'd like in an effort to provide clarity in your life.

I'm not worried about what his weight is as a freshman at all. First of all, some kids just play "bigger". Second, the difference between what he is as an incoming freshman and a graduating (we hope) senior is huge.

I like his aggression, and he looks pretty fast to me (maybe because he doesn't run like a 300+ pounder?).

Coming from Germany originally, I think he'll be comfortable in the more European architecture and atmosphere of the Bay Area.

Can't wait to see him in Blue and Gold.

He also lost a decent amount of weight while rehabbing from his injury.

Much ado about nothing.
