Spring Showcase Wraps up Spring Practice on a Sunny Saturday at Memorial
BERKELEY - An estimated 1,200 fans were treated to some much-awaited action at Memorial Stadium as the Bears wrapped up this season’s spring practice with their annual Spring Showcase Saturday afternoon.
The scrimmage culminated the four weeks of work and months of planning beforehand that went into integrating a large number of transfer and early entry players along with a significant number of coaching changes.
“I think it came together really well,” head coach Justin Wilcox said after practice. “A lot of that is due to the work that’s done before the actual practices. The time we spent in meetings, the staff, the player meetings, the workouts the players are doing with their strength staff. They did a phenominal job this winter and made us better.
Talking about the newly-assigned Co-DC roles assigned to OLB coach Vic So’oto and DB coach Terrance Brown, Wilcox declined to specify who would be calling plays on game, whether it would be him, So’oto, Brown or some combination.
