Bears Pull in High MLB Target Harrison Taggart From BYU
The Bears picked up a key piece in their defensive rebuilt after losing five defensive players to the NFL draft along with two more roster signees with the addition of BYU middle linebacker Harrison Taggart today.
The 6-1/235 MLB was a starter for the Cougars in 2024, compiling 69 tackles, 3 TFL, 3 PBUs and 1 sack as a redshirt soph after seeing significant time as a redshirt frosh in 2023 totalling 23 tackles. Taggart initially signed with Oregon, playing three games as a true frosh in 2023 before opting to transfer and preserving his redshirt eligibility.
Taggart will be counted on as a key piece replacing 4th round draftee Teddye Buchanan, playing alongside former frosh All-American MLB Cade Uluave at the heart of Cal’s defense.
The Bears beat out Colorado and North Carolina State in a tight battle for Taggart’s commitment.
