Bears Get One of Their Top WR Targets in Fresno WR EJ Morgan

6-0/160 Central East wide receiver EJ Morgan has had Cal high on his list of target programs for a while, particularly after his Elite Junior Day visit to Cal in March. Now on his third visit to Berkeley  this year, the talented receiver made it official with his commitment to Cal.

“My visit to Cal was amazing!” Morgan said. “I really liked everything about it. I felt like family while I was there.

“One thing that stood out to me the most was they way everyone is so comfortable around one another. Like I mentioned Cal has a family like atmosphere that anyone including myself would love to be around!

“I think my relationship with coach Cefelo and the staff is amazing. Me and Coach Cefelo are extremely good. We can relate to one another very well and he gets football, which I love. Also the staff is amazing. They are very welcoming and I feel like I have a real connection with everyone.”

In his junior season in 2024, Morgan hauled in 45 catches for 647 yards (14.46 ypc) and 8 TDs for Central East.

Morgan also received offers from Arizona State, Boise State, San Diego State, Oregon State and more before choosing Cal.

The rising senior is also a star on the track, notching impressive marks of 10.80 in the 100, 21.59 in the 200, 47.94 in the 400 and 22'7" in the long jump. He also ran on his 4X400 relay team that finished 3rd at the State Championships with a 3:13.13 time. At the NorCal National Preps Camp in February, he set an event record with a 131” broad jump, which would have placed him tied for fourth among receivers at the NFL Combine.
