The Bears kept it in the family today when they secured a commitment today from Centennial defensive lineman Miles Schirmer -the younger brother of Cal frosh DT Kingston Schirmer -today after his weekend visit to Cal. His commitment comes a month after securing a commitment from Gunnar Perry, who’s WR brother Cooper signed with Cal through the portal from Oregon in January. The brother duos join the father-son combo with former Cal kicker Doug Brien’s IMG Academy kicker son Zach Brien also joining the Bears in 2027.
The 3 star 6-5/250 Schirmer also had offers from Notre Dame, Texas, USC, UCLA, Washington, Stanford and more before choosing the Bears.
"I really love the coaching staff " Schirmer said. "I feel like they could develop me into a great player and hopefully into an NFL player. I think that they’re building something great over there and I want to be a part of it.
"Another big factor in my commitment was playing with my brother. I’m very excited to be playing with him and also just having someone there to guide me through my college experience."
As a junior, Schirmer totaled 38 tackles, 3 sacks, 13 hurries and a crucial punt block in Centennial’s upset win over national powerhouse Mater Dei.
Schirmer will join Sutter DE Troy Bowens, Grant edge Giovanni Hodge, Arizona LB Gunnar Perry, Sierra Canyon safety Myles Baker, Southlake Carroll TX WR Blake Gunter, Westlake WR Charles Davis III, Houston RB Antwon Sanders and IMG Academy kicker Zach Brien in the Bears’ 2026 recruiting class.
